Surreal, emotional journey of a robot that finds companionship with plants on a tiny square planet.
Nice work! Very original.
I played this game to completion. I like that it's a game that has never been made before. I thought it could be improved by having another adversary. Also, the final graphic is so nice, it would have been nice to incorporate it a little more and extend the game play a little while longer.
Thank you for this.
quite nice game, music, graphics, mood all really well done. but i must say i sucked at it :D
good stuff especially for your 1st entry :) .. good animation/music :) chrome game me a warning about possible malicious download..1st time its ever done that.. im sure it was false positive tho ;p
Thanks for your comments everyone. ^_^ It's really nice to hear what you made of it, and what you liked and disliked.

Oops! It might be because it's an .exe? I think internet explorer used to automatically block .exe's. XD
Really liked the music and the mood, and the robot's little comments: "Good thing I have plenty of spacebars", heh :)
Might have worked a bit better with keyboard controls for everything, especially walking. But that's only a minor thing. Enjoyed this.
Hey, neat little game! I like how everything turns all green at the end and how the little robot character talks throughout everything. Nicely don!
Ok seriously, I want to play it, and I'l hold of rating until I get it, but what the fuck are you supposed to do? I just keep dying. The weather station does nothing, no matter where I spray water nothing happens?
Hint: Have you used the right mouse button? ^_~
I can be more specific if you like.
Wow do I feel like an idiot... No, I had not tried right-clicking. Obviously way to used playing flash games. How embarrassing.
Anywho, real feedback then:
Loved it! Great atmosphere and idea! I love mood-games, it's the kinds I make myself. Controls should probably have been keyboard based though. And text, such as the values, should not be black if the game's environment is black. Good job, one of my favourites so far.
Great work! Nice idea, nice implementation, nice graphics and nice game play. A good game across the board. Took me a little while to figure out the controls because I was too stupid to read the instructions.
The game runs nicely on Linux with Wine.
Sweet entry. Loved the graphics, the mood, the music, the humor, game mechanics, everything. Planting seeds needs some explaining though but it's a solid entry. It's definitely one of the few games I've played to completion. Congratulations.
Excellent atmosphere.
I felt like the weather station was kind of confusing: I thought by holding the space bar I was getting energy back, when in actuality I had to keep pressing it.
Also, when you die you seem to get some kind of hint, but if the silhouette of the cube is above you its hard to see it.
All in all a delightful game.
I really like the idea of this game!
But first a word on the controls and presentation, I really think this game needs to introduce itself better. While I commend your endeavor on trying to make the player figure out the controls as they go, I think the player should be at least told what keys they should use.
I had to read the comments here to figure out I had to use the right click to plant seeds.
With that, this is a really good prototype for 48 hours and I think it has much potential! Here are some ideas:
-Plants having a much wider variety
-More forgiving gameplay, I died when I was almost done filling it all. A very good concept to implement is the easing up of the game exponentially. As you grow more and more plants, things spiral and you find yourself getting much more energy and weather.
-Have the plants you grow unlock further areas.
Imagine as this robot first lands on this tiny planet, he plants the area around him, but a certain tree grows such that it can walk on it and access a new area. This could give the game space for progression and content as the planets continue to unlock new areas in creative ways.
Eventually turning into a very unique adventure game where you adventure not by your wits or your brutality in fighting, but in your love for plants and making things beautiful.
Experiment with plant growing mechanics and this could really be an amazing game.
The game itself is wonderfuly charming. The art, music, and story are lovely. My criticisms really are more down to control and usability than anything else, so here we go.
When you run out of energy and the help text appears overtop the planet, the fact that it's black text on black background means that it cannot be read. Perhaps a white-colored drop shadow effect would help make the text more legible in this case?
Because I kept dying where the text would be illegible, I died several times before ever getting the clue about where weather comes from.
Years of Flash games have taught me never to click the right mouse button, so even though this is not a Flash game I still am conditioned to ignore its existence. If you're going to have the right mouse button do something critical it's best to call that out.
Nice game, I liked it a lot, after I figured out what was going on. I could not figure out what to do at first. Maybe a little more tutorial.
Fits the theme perfectly and really good mood. I really like the personality you gave the character.
Wow! What a beautiful game. It took me some time to figure out the mechanics. The comments of the robot definitelly helped but could have been said a tad earlier for the impatient.
All in all, if you have some patience, it's just a great small game.
Well done, I really loved this game! great graphics and mood
Great atmosphere, looks awesome and sounds nice too. I would have enjoyed it more if it was a little more complex and longer but still good job!
Hey, I just wanted to say I really appreciate all the comments! For those of you whose games I haven't left feedback on yet... I will try to have a look at your games as soon as I humanly can, it's just been a mega busy week!
Great concept! Could use to be a bit more intuitive control-wise in the beginning, plus the text color is an issue, otherwise awesome. Music is great too.
I should be dumb because I didn't manage to plant seeds...Morevoer, the arrow buttons didn't work and I played with the mouse. Can't rate yet ^^
Wow. Just lovely. Concept's great, mood is nicely done. I found it a little difficult to generate enough energy to keep going. I *am* a sucker for growing games, though.
I have to amend my previous comment with: No source? I believe this disqualifies you from the competition, which would be a pity, IMO.
Eep? It does? How do I get source code? Help! I thought that it was for people who use libraries? I'm so confused...
I put all of my scripts into a text file... is that good enough? I'm still not 100% sure what source code is? Do I need to ask the people behind GameMaker to give me some?
I think that's fine? It's not specified on the rules page, but I don't think assets are included, it's usually just the scripting of the game - I think the spirit of the idea is so that we can all learn from each other. ^_^
Okay this was a nice surprise. Liked the idea the mood and it has a well done end. Great! Simon
Aww this was so cool. Thank you steamgirl! I wish I had more visual cues for when something is happening, but I guess that would have meant more animation, and I know 48 hours isn't the time to make more animation :))
Top marks for theme, graphics and mood!
Really cool. I still don't quite understand the weather tower mechanic, but the music and visuals all worked well with the growing/watering and wandering about. Very quiet and contemplative. Great work!

Argh.. that was supposed to be "planet" not plant. >.<
