April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
It's about time! -- It took us more than 15 yeas to make a game together, but it finally came true!
Code/Art/SFX: michi @quixoticproject
Code/Editor/Music: fysx @fysxdotorg
In this game you steer a spaceship through a colourful world, but great care has to be taken on where to fly. Watch out for your energy orbs as they drain out quickly depending where you fly. Luckily there are some power orbs to collect.
The game does not follow the LD23 theme, instead it is heavily inspired by a picture that posted on the TIGSource forums. Unfortunately we could not find the original post.
We used www.Love2d.org together with Hump and Quickie which was extremely productive (thanks vrld!). Art, Music, Level Editor, and Sound were created from scratch with tools like Inkscape, sfxr and Milkytracker.
Notes for the editor:
You can switch which layer to modify using F1 - F4 and select the powerups with F5-F8. Return lets you test the game. Due to sandboxing of Love2d, it will save the levels in the directory specified at https://love2d.org/wiki/love.filesystem.
Have fun!

D: The green circles kept showing up right after my green power meter ran out!
VERY cool visual style and idea with the different fuel types. I wish you'd left out that gradient on the left - the clean lines give a cool retro feel (like an atari game box-art). Couldn't figure out how to use the level editor, but it's cool you put it in there.
Thank you all for the feedback! We are very glad you like it!

Ah, and about the gradient: The idea was that the player flees from the "grayness" and has to fight it later.. but it turned out that was way to much story for such a short development time ;)
Needed a tutorial! I was very confused why I kept exploding until I figured it out! otherwise very cool :)
Very, very cool. I picked up on the gameplay and mechanics almost immediately with no tutorial! Oh...btw I got really nervous playing it. Might need to play next time with a glass of bourbon :)
Really nice original gameplay and graphics! Great job!
5* for audio. Immediately fantastic. Graphics 5* this is a brilliant concept and really fun. I'd like this on my iPhone please!!! Make it so.
Fantastic game. Took me a while to understand what was happening, but once you do, the game opens up.
Such a great idea! i actually enjoyed the fact that i had to discover the mechanic while playing. The graphics suit the game amazingly. Very simple yet so fun to play. Congrats :)
Great look and perfectly matching music. It was fun to figure out how the game worked. One difficulty I had was looking back and forth between my ship in the middle of the screen and the colors at the top right of the screen. Visually, I didn't understand the point of the alpha'd out left side. It seemed to clash with the design of everything else. The particle effects were super-cool, maybe you can have the star trails colored based on the color of the item you pick up? Also, massive bonus points for being the first game I've played (of 30 so far) to include a level editor. Although... I couldn't quite figure out how to edit the level! Maybe on-screen instructions in level editor mode? Also, you guys nailed it with the name. I second the iOS port recommendation. One last thing -- I didn't understand why there were triangles in the color pickups but then just circles in the color meters. I was trying to deduce the significance of that but I figured... eh! Oh, one more last thing -- the screen shake was great!
I liked this game! It had good music, and was fairly fun, although when it got hard I didn't really want to play anymore. :C
Very nice little game.
I didn't understand on my first play why I died, but to your credit I was actually able to figure it out without reading any instructions :)
The color scheme is fresh and different and your game idea also feels very original.
The music was alright but nothing too memorable. Also I think you could perhaps add some bigger signal when you're about to blow up as watching the top right and the shifting color channels can be difficult.
All in all a very polished and original entry.
I like just about everything about this. Nice clean visuals, clever mechanic, perfectly pitched difficulty.
Nice job :)
This game can get hard on your brain and there is a bit too much memory involved. But it's a game that gets a lot more fun once you know what you're doing.
Wow. That was confusing. For a long time it seemed my deaths were completely random.
Pretty cool idea. It was challenging yet fast and simple to learn the basic mechanics. Graphics and sounds was well suited for the game. For whatever reason the Linux download didn't run for me, it just loaded up the main menu and then I got a "Segmentation Fault". Luckily I could just run the Windows version through Wine instead. I'm running LOVE 0.8.0 (Rubber Piggy).

Very nice! I didn't get it at first, but the help was very clear, and the game made much more sense!
