Damn, I'm always a sucker for upgrade games! I really loved this one! I didn't see a connection to the theme though
Grrrr, since you cant change upgrades in the last level, it all feels like a preparation for that, I had to give up because I didnt have enough armour!
Good game nevertheless =), its quite entertaining.
Thanks for the feedback, indeed I wasn't really able to imagine a game for the given topic - the only connection is that the world is for sure not the biggest you could imagine^^
@oddgoo: Indeed, maybe a upgrade reset button where you only get 90% of your invested money back would've been great to avoid your situation - Didn't think about that =)
First entry that got my "damnit one more go" reflex working - nice job! Love the music and sfx too - the robots "bursting" is very satisfying :)
I also fail to see the relation with the theme, however this doesn't mean it is not fun ;-)
The only thing that I can complain is the “reload” mechanic. I believe it would be better if it was some kind of “heating” or something, but only because usually I am given control on when/how to reload but you didn't in this game; I feel like I am restricted.
@summaky: I don't really understand what you mean, you can of course reload manually by pressing [R] (Or a custom key that you could define in the settings)
I had trouble with reloading as well. I'd hit the key and nothing would happen then a while later, it reloaded. I guess I expected that hitting 'r' or whatever instantly reloads, but it seems to start some sort of reload process, so it just wasn't what I was expecting (or it's a bug, I dunno!)
Music and art and sound were all nice, and arena shooties is always fun, though.
Animation of the main character was surprisingly good.
Really fun little game, played it all the way to the end. Kind of annoying that the boss killed me in like 2 hits with full health and armor, but I managed to get it down.
About the reloading: It takes some time to reload, where during the reload there's an icon besides the clip indicating your inability to shoot. However, you can decrease the reload time with the corresponding upgrade to only half a second.
Didn't think people wouldn't note that, though - maybe the icon is too small =)
Top-notch game; it really was a lot of fun and its very polished! I just didn't like that I couldn't finish all my upgrades in time (only had three left, but that's just the completionist in me speaking). Like the others have said, can't find much of a connection to the theme, its probably the only noticeable flaw in terms of the competition.
Its also always nice to see a fellow competitor using haXe too (I could tell by the preloader) :)
Loved this entry, my favorite so far I think. It feels like a really good demo to a game that has a ton of potential. Absolutely loved this entry, loved it !
Cool little shoot'em up. Like the upgrade system. Made it to wave 17. But those little UFO thingies are tough. Enjoyed playing it.
Easy, but lots of fun. Played straight through to the end. Upgrades kept me hooked.
Good fun. I would have refilled the ammo bar with another color instead of using an icon. The game balance is a little off, evidenced by the infinite continues. It's too easy to lose quickly. I would give the player a little invincibility time after getting hit. In that case, you might give the player fewer and more expensive life upgrades and make some enemy shots more damaging. This is how you can work with an integer health system (which I assume the game is using). If you were using floating point health, you could temporarily increase player armor instead of making him invincible.
Absolutely tons of fun! Surprisingly deep game for something made in 48 hours. Already one of my favorites!
I think this game is basically perfect as it is. If you wanna improve on it, maybe just work on the music.
Now as a side note, I was infuriated when, later in the game, in the middle of a crazy wave, I was moving the mouse like crazy and by mistake clicked a little below the game... on one of the links!!! I lost all my progress. It drove me crazy :)
Kind of fun, but I'm not sure reloading added much except irritation.

I had a lot of fun with this game! I loved the mechanics (running around and shooting things), but the upgrade system is what sold it for me. Tons of fun :)
The only downside is that I didn't see a strong connection with the theme.
