Tiny Wizard - kebabskal - Jam Entry

Tiny wizard on tiny planet builds massive tower.
Compensating for something? ;)
Anyway, something is not right at the tower...

Made 95% by me (Hannes Rahm) but with some help from Alfred Olsson.

Could have made it as a compo entry, but life got in the way :)

Made with flashdevelop, photoshop & bfxr.

Nice little game.
Since this is a flash game hosted on kongregate, you should rename your entry to "Web". Some people won't even try your game if it is flagged as "Windows" (since they don't want to download anything)

Definitely one of my favourite games in the competition! That was a really really really fun game! I loved the whole concept, and the levels were challenging enough to establish a nice flow.

Neat game! I like the spells come with hats idea, kind of reminds me of sorcerer's apprentice from fantasia. Also the random(I think) levels and minimalist pixel art graphics are great. Good job!

Good game and nice tutorial. Unfortunately an enemy was stuck in a wall, and can't go further :(

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I am aware of the "enemy stuck in wall problem". I'm trying to make a real fix for it.
(Might have figured it out while writing this comment actually ;))

In the meanwhile, enemies auto-die after 30s.
You can also usually kill them with bombs.

I liked it a lot, although it was kind of hard to play with my laptop track pad... I ended up not using bombs very much because it was hard to manipulate so many different keys. Great job overall!

Darn fun! Pew-pewing things is just so delightful sometimes.

Good use of the theme. I love the tiny wizard / tiny word / giant friggin huge tower!

The graphics and the sound and gameplay all compliment each other very well. I'd say the whole experience is very well balanced and nothing distracts from anything else.

The gameplay was very good, responsive, challenging, and rewarding.

I wasn't a fan of hitting tab to change hats given the distance that is from spacebar.

Excellent game!

I remember your last LD "The End" and decided to look you up this time to see if you'd submitted a game. I'm happy I did! This game is really fun, though the difficulty is a bit unforgiving at times.

I wish there were a small window of invincibility for you after you've been hit like in many other such games. The current setup makes it easy for an enemy to corner you and tear away your health in an instant.

The uberspells were a nice touch, but the tab button to change hats in the middle of a tense fight is always tough for me to reach when I'm already using WASD for my motion controls.

Another nice touch would have been a target reticle that follows / replaces your mouse pointer.

Very fun and polished game, I was not fond of the controls though. I found it a little finicky to throw bombs and switch hats, I got the hang of it eventually, but I had preferred using buttons closer to wasd, like q & e. Other than that, I really enjoyed it, great work!

This was really fun! I could have kept playing this, especially with powerups and more variety. Great job, especially for 48 hours.

One thing that keeps bothering me is the loud video ad that kongregate plays every time I want to play a LD game for a few minutes. It's not your fault so I'm not taking points off or anything, but it's getting annoying enough that I might stop playing games hosted on kongregate. I'm not sure if there's a way for you to disable that or not, but it's just a general gripe.

Definitely one of the more fun LD games Ive played!
The combat was enjoyable, and the hats and their special abilities were cool.
My only gripe is that there was no real indication of you getting hurt, ie no sound and no visual.

Nice work. Very polished. I found the controls to be a little awkward when mousing left handed. Would have liked the option to use arrow keys instead of WASD.

This was great, looks good and fun to play. There is in my opinion too little feedback when you get hit. And you are pretty much doomed when you get stuck between enemies.

Very polished. I had problems with when I reached the other wizard that I got stuck between the two central columns and I couldn't get away from the foe and died, but other than that no complains at all :-)

Mmm arena shooter yes. Feels good man.

Graphics/sound/gameplay are all solid. A sound/visual for when enemies die would add even more joyful catharsis, but I think you already have a hit on your hands. ;)

I liked the mechanics and arcade style (gradually getting harder).

The only thing I'd change is the tab button. I think 'E' could be better. You could also add music in the post-compo version.

59800 Floor 27. Does this just go on forever? Fun pixellated shooter. seems like starting each level by using your supers and then just using ice to hold everyone back till they're all dead is the way to go. I wish there felt like more types of strategy. do the elements do more damage to guys that bear the opposite color? also, the bosses are easily pinned in with the ice spell. stay on one wall, shoot towards them, dodge their aoe, repeat. other than those balance things, the game is quite fun. would be neat if I could continue to build up my skills or make choices to make fire or ice stronger or do different things. great job.
