Stargazer is a game about a tiny little island of pygmies who think their island world is all that exists. One day, following beautiful meteor showers the night before, they find themselves beset by debris from the sky. Steel yourself, and raise your spear, for you are the savior of your people.

A or Left Arrow - Move Left
D or Right Arrow - Move Right
Left Click - Throw Spear
Enter - Accept / Skip / Continue

Reload by standing in front of the spear rack in the center hut.

You can select your game mode with the NUMBER KEYS on the title screen.

Story Mode - 5 levels of gameplay telling the story of our pygmy hero.

Survival Mode - infinite length gameplay, harder than story mode, continues until you are wiped out.

Controls are available on the title screen by pressing '3'.

Awesome game! I loved it! My two cents: 1. the "falling all over" is too unbalanced (speed of falling vs speed of hero vs area to be covered) and 2. in the history, I would change the pygmies idea of "there're others like us" to "the gods are angry at us" (most likely what could occur). Anyway, this game can easily became a "full featured game" outside LD!

Nice! Much more motivating to shoot meteors down that are falling on people than to shoot missiles that are falling on vague buldings.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@m4c0 - Our hero pygmy thinks differently from the others, while everyone else assumes that the sky god is angry with them, he wonders if there might be other people outside their island. He imagines that the world is not as tiny as they think it is.

I do intend to release the game as well, I just need to polish things up some more :)

This looks and plays great! I would use something other than numbers to show when something is about to fall down though.

The numbers show how high they are above the screen, I could have probably been more clear about that.

Nice art, quite an original setting and very polished game.

A minor issue: Why use numbers for the menu if your game needs mouse? The first time I play I died because I didn't expect to use the mouse to shoot and I had to check the instructions.

Awesome pixel graphics and nice gameplay, music is missing though.

Looks great and nice take on the classic. But it gets quite hard when a lot of rocks are falling at once.

@fanatiko - Because it was quicker to create the title screen that way, rather than doing mouse clicking for buttons, and I wanted to spend more time on the game itself than on making buttons for my title screen. It's not going to stay that way.

@free_napalm - yeah I know, I can't compose music.

Wow, except for the lack of music, I'd call this a perfect entry. Really enjoyable controls, looks and gameplay. Seriously well done, I hope this ends up around the top of the rating!

I liked the small story bits in between levels, unfortunately the "ending" was kind of a let down.

I thought this was a nice story and the game has good controls. The rounds in story mode could be a bit shorter (or use some variation).
