Godly

by Diventurer - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Timelapse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmzfkfxy6J4

I didn't really like this theme, as my creativity didn't come up with any ideas.

The result isn't so good, but at least it's something :)

Instructions can be found in the menu, should be read.

Oh, and there is no "win" aspect to the game.
It's kind of relaxing though, if you... Err, if you don't think about those damn Eaters D:

Hope the game is enjoyable :)

I couldn't play I'm afraid as I got an error saying that the MSCVR100.dll couldn't be found...

That's weird...
Two of my friends have tested it and it seems to work for them.
My only clue is that you're maybe not on Windows 7.
If you are, then I have no idea.

I didn't understand all aspects. What do generators exactly do ? Took me a while to get how to build them as well.
Also I see there's a lot of music files but I didn't hear any in the game.

Generators generate power. When you consume them, you get more power. :)
When you start, a random music file is supposed to play, and then when you lose, a new one will start playing.
I don't know why you didn't hear any music. o_o

This was interesting! :) I like the concept of open ended god-games. Do you plan to expand it? It could be quite interesting with a bit mroe stuff!

I liked to see the 'god watching over world' take on the theme this time around. The idea of turning generators into an investment is really neat- I was unlucky enough that Eaters kept seeming to spawn on mine, so I could never quite get one that made a profit against their cost :P

Anyway, still cool and interesting! Good job!

Thank you ^_^

I'm definitely going to remake it, and make it a bit more fun :P

I actually wanted to do that now, but seems like I ran out of time and the engine kind of sucks. So I'm going to remake it sometime :)

Well, It's interesting, and somewhat innovative. I think if you put some more work here, you can have a very unique game. Maybe you can make it that we can choose which tile to place using the scroll wheel? Or maybe make the eaters destroy the world if they stay too long around.

The generators generate power kinda slowly, there is not much point in them right now. Also, you GET power by destroying eaters, so you are never really short in power.

BTW, a simple way to give a "goal" to your game is to simply add a score -- like time alive.

Thanks for the game!

I didn't hear the music as well.

This seemed interesting, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to make more humans or those generator things. There were circular glowy things... were those the generators?

Anyway, was fun to make the Eaters drop into the void ;)

@caranha
Thanks! :)
I ran really short on time, so I desperately submitted it.

@Tomalla
Ow :(
Thanks for trying! :)

@jason.bakker
Thanks for playing :)
The generators were the circular glowy things,yes :P
Click on sand or grass to make a human, costs 10,000 power :)
Oh, and yes, destroying the Eaters is always fun! ^_^

I couldn't hear any music either. D: But, I liked the game! I would have liked some more things to do in the game though. But you're right, it is somewhat relaxing. :P

I couldn't quite understand the gameplay; how do I spawn humns as opposed to random tiles? Also, I heard no music, so the audio of beeps and blarghs was a bit tedious. But overall not that bad.

Nice beginning of a game, I had to play it a few times to figure out how to build power generators (you have to form water), but I don't understand how the humans control them (I think I had a bug, I had 1 human but around 10 generators), didn't seem to have any connection for me. Felt like a bit of a losing battle :D
I didn't hear the music, I'm not sure what the .it format is so couldn't preview them in explorer. Hope you make another God game in the future!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! :)

I am actually going to remake this game.
It's going to be in isometric style, and humans will walk around, hunt, fish and stuff :)

It'll have nice graphics, as I have an excellent artist :D

I am also thinking about making the humans split sides and form their own countries/colonies. And they'll war against eachother. :D

Awesome game! Music didn't work for me too, I have no idea what's an .it sound format either...

Thank you ^_^
The music only works on Windows 7 I think.
I think if you play on Windows XP graphics won't show either, lol. I really do not know why. I'll figure it out until next LD :)

I would play this if there were a web version. You should consider doing a web version for future games.
