Ahahahaha, this was a blast to do. Actually managed to get everything to work this time. The controls are shown if you press V when in-game (if I haven't made it obvious enough :P) and use the arrow keys to navigate the pages. Other than that it's fairly simple what to do - WASD controlls the camera panning and the arrow keys control where the cursor is - the buttons described in the instructions are used for placing/deleting objects and space is used to apply.
Add more land to increace the resources you can get, and attract more aliens.
I know there are a few bugs, and I haven't been able to test it all the way through (I have got college tomorrow :P), so I apologise if there's anything game breaking that I haven't been able to address.
Thanks for looking at my entry, and I hope everone had a good competition!
OH! And if you loose, press escape to go the the menu. Only just seen that and can't correct it :P

Heh, thanks! I'm slowly working on an out-of competition version built off of this build that fixes the more horrendous bugs (and my god does sleep deprivation stop you from seeing them!). I'm also making some sort of tutorial system as-per requests, plus adding more units / a better way to select them. Will put it up here when it's a more stable release.
That is a very interesting take on the tower defense theme. I like the freedom, and the terrain building a lot.
Unfortunately there are some bugs with the game: First, and most important, if you reset/restart your game, your money/energy/land values don't reset -- you have to stop and start your game again -- check your "init state" routine.
Also, after the first wave, I got a "the end" screen badly placed and some weird sounds.
This game looks pretty great, sound is a bit meager :) but tower defense is always fun, and the idea is also cool. Good job!
I liked it. Good amount of work. Would have preferred the placement of items to use the mouse. I was constantly trying to do that instead of space bar.

Really cool idea, could be cool to see what else could be added. But i had a hard time understanding how to play the game, i could only build the turrets
