April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
KILL ALL THE FLIES !
MOVE: Array keys.
SHOOT: Spacebar, or V key.
Bonuses will increase your character abilities (speed, shooting rate, bullet numbers and speed).
You can't die, but your score will drop if you get hit.
This is a little arcade shooter game, made during the 48h compo using HTML5 and Javascript.
I wrote everything from scratch and only use one external library for the sounds/musics (https://github.com/jakesgordon/javascript-audio-fx)
For those who ask question about the music, it's something I made using Garage Band for mac. (based on music samples and loops included in the soft). I hadn't enough time nor skills to do something based on digital instruments... maybe the next time!
Enjoy!

KNOWN ISSUES:
- This game is damn short! (IWANTMORE) -
=> Unfortunately, time was really lacking and I couldn't work on well-polished additional waves to fight... Sorry about that ;/
- I can't make a diagonal move while shooting... what a shame -
=> I figured out this issue back to my desktop computer (and its creepy keyboard), I added an "emergency" alternative which is the "K" key to avoid the spacebar overloading problem.
- "About" menu not working: -
=> I hadn't enough time to finish it, so it's just not functional.

I was just starting to die when the game finished. But other than that, it was pretty great. I liked the sinusoidal attacker curves. Knowing how those guys were going to move doesn't make it easier to hit them. And the time limited power ups were good.
I wish you'd had more time!
Reminds me of the patterns from Galaga. Both games are cool. Not quite sure how this ties into "Tiny World" though. Also: BEGIN LEADERBOARD! My highscore: 123

This game left me wanting more, and I mean that in a good way. High score: 297! I think that's as high as you can go, but there is a chance I missed one!
Thanks for the comments =)
Indeed time was missing for polishing and working on a complete level... Since I don't want to cheat, this "short" version will unfortunately stay as the final submission. (I will maybe propose an extended one since it's not so hard to put content in a level but I don't want it to influence in the votes ^^)
Cute game, and nice graphics. The game was a bit easy, but very nice for 48 hours!
Cute little game, good job! And you have to remember to provide the source in the entry!(Part of the rules!)
runs smooth, plays smooth, not too difficult, nice variance.
you did it pal. good job.
Cute, and I like the art. The general aesthetic was very pleasing :) would be nice if there were more firing type and the game lasted longer (I only got single fire and double fire). Well done.
The controls need a bit of work, not being able to move up/down and left/right while shooting made it a bit hard. (Although it might just be my keyboard)
I liked the overall theme though, although I'm not sure how well it fits with "tiny world"
Nice entry. Like other people have said, it would have been good if the gameplay was a little longer. I liked the power ups though and it's fun to play. Well done!
Surprisingly short, but it was nice game. very simple graphics and gameplay.
Simple, yet neatly executed. Nice music.
I don't know if you were trying to be funny, but the suddenness of the last screen as well as the fly's expression had me laughing.
Good job!

Not a bad take on the side scrolling shooter genre. I like the art style, shame the game isn't a bit longer.
Nice shooter game. Everything works as expected. Only wish is there would be a little more content. Also the ending is a bit abrupt.
Nice game but maybe too short : when finally fully powered up, it's a bit frustrating to see the ending screen :)
Also, the UP/DOWN controls can't be used at the same time as LEFT/RIGHT, which is a problem for a shooter ;)
Nice and short entry. I can't hear any music though and only every second bullet seems to make a sound. Very nice graphics and kitteh cloud.^^
The graphics are cute, and I specially liked the kitten cloud. I don't really see how this game fits the theme, though.
Simple yet fun game. I like graphics and sound. My score at the end 267. Too bad it ends so quickly.
I got a 285...Nice fly based game...some explosions would have been nice, but I really liked the spread upgrade for shooting. You also have possibly the best directions menu I've ever seen(some people have like three page intros that I fall asleep to)...I will most likely be using that bottom how to play method in the future...
Nice little game.
It just goes to show again that HTML5 is nowhere near anything useful.
If some comment wouldn't say something about music I didn't even know there was some.
Needs more content! It was getting real fun with all the powerups when it ended.

You totally got me off guard when the first wave formation appeared. I wasn't expecting any strategy from those flies.
Wow... I really like the music.
Fun little thing to maybe do if you felt like updating the game would be to make it so the bullets were timed with the music a little... the sound effect for shooting sounded like a bass drum, so it kinda felt musical.
I don't know how that would work with the fire-rate increasing thing though.
How did you make the music? I love it! (feel free not to reply if it's in your journals 'cause I'll check those out now)
@Rabbits... The only problem with that are neophyte people who don't see the keyboard comparison, but yeah I totally agree with what you say about all these endless "how to play" tutorials. Plus, I saved time doing so.
@Jezzamon: Because the main concept was quite commonplace, I firstly tried to add a music rhythmic thing to the game.
However, current web browsers coupled with HTML5 aren't good enough for the moment to handle something sufficiently precise with sounds.
So we can say that "sound musical" is at least what I could reach :p
@Jezzamon(bis): Btw I used GarageBand and loop samples for this music. I had unfortunately not enough time (and skills) to do something more personal with digitalized instruments.
I liked how the enemies changed their behaviour when I got new powerups. Even the last powerup wasnt overpowered because the pattern of the enemies changed accordingly. Good work :)
I liked it a lot, and bravo for coding from scratch in HTML5. Would have loved to see it be "infinite", though.
Game was a little boring, but I did like the little loop you threw together and at times I would try to sync up the shooting noise with the song :P
I like how the shooting sound is real bassy and complements the music, which is well done. I kept trying to fire faster to fire in rhythm with the music. The gameplay is nice and simple. It was over sooner than I had hoped. You could stick with the Tiny World theme by having the player character be tiny and all the enemies tiny and make the game as long as you want. Infinite gameplay could be enabled via a random wave generator or a looping set of levels a la classic arcade shooters.
Pretty solid game. No real difficulty curve for me though, but maybe it's just because I play a lot of shmups. The bullet pattern looked cool towards the end :)
Short, but it's interesting, I did enjoy it for what little it had to offer. Good entry. ;D

Well done on the music. I don't know why the game ends so early. Why don't you just keep adding more and more enemies and powerups until the player gives up?
