April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Unzip the game wherever you want.
Double-click on game.exe to start.
The current version does not allow you to pass the tutorial.
But you can use a disable help button during game when you get some experience.
Don't look for sound as I have not been able to add sounds...

thanks !
I am sorry though that the tutorial for this version is kind of stuck so you have to go through it each time you play. A problem which arose because I did it just before submissions.
I will make both OSX + linux versions this week as well as a post compo release which will be a little bit more optimized :) Don't hesitate to give me more thoughts / feedback about the gameplay. :)
Ah, before I forget : the tutorial problem ( which is mainly waiting for tips to appear and disappear, which takes about 10 seconds before you get started ) happens just the first time you play so that after you can play without any problem. I thought I needed to explain so that no one gets frightened ;)
Really interesting game and perfectly executed :) Putting characters with diverging objectives in a small world perfectly fits the theme!
***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Like it! Gameplay is fun, graphics are great.
I think I managed to break it the first time I played (not sure how, I reached turn 3 and it froze), that only happened once though.
Would be nice to be able to skip the tutorial, it was quite annoying having to go through it all again the second time loading the game.
Good presentation but the game itself could use hotkeys for adding arrows. Good job on making it!
@deepnight : Thanks !!
@devwill : linux has been added today, osx is planned this week and maybe a web version as well :)
@arkazon : tutorial : agreed, I added it just before I submitted the game... For the crash I don't know since I did not encounter one.
@Jhelle : agreed for the keys :) Thanx !
Many thanks to all of you !
On first playtrough, I got a game over at turn 6 after a guard spawned right after my king. A faster/avoidable tutorial could have made this less annoying.
Great polished graphics and well worked gameplay and it fits theme well.
Interesting! I'm not exactly sure what the goal is? Is it just to ensure that none of the characters run into each other? Graphics look great! I'd definitely look forward to seeing how this progresses if you put more time into it! Thanks for sharing your game!
Thanks for all your kind comments !!
I am planning to make an improved version with different game modes, better story, better tutorial, and of course the missing sounds and music !
Since the game was made for the ludum dare, I will use the ludum dare web site to give updates :)
BTW, a macosx version is under way !
Nicely done! Definitely innovative, fits the theme well. Good graphics and mood! I'd love to see this game develop more, and I'll still be trying to get past turn 30 in the meantime.
Very nice! I like the graphics and the gameplay is fun. I like that you ramp up the gameplay as a form of tutorial in addition to the story at the beginning.
Fun game with a pretty neat concept! It has potential to be expanded a lot more...maybe changing terrain, or having other effects on the game state, in addition to the story. You could really do a lot with this.
Thanks for all these comments, I am going to take time to incorporate all your ideas :)
Great game there, reminds me of that mental game where the farmer has to move a chicken, fox, and bag of corn over the river. A hot key to close the announcements would be great.
Very, very, very nice game. A simple concept but it works perfectly, I like the graphics, the introduction. In summary a very good game.
