Yes, there is an Game Session Finished screen at the end.
Try to jump on blocks, it could help.
Very nice concept and good execution.
Part with a sitting solder was pretty powerful.
Though movement could be a bit faster, and some jumping bits was a bit hard, I don't really see the point of platformer challenge in that kind of game, but I guess it was unintentional. And, I only noticed it because I completed game two times to see if there is a different ending if I haven't killed any enemies. It was a bit disappointing to learn there is no any.
Anyway, good job!
very good graphics n screen effect. could not get the mission though. Also felt the player was too slow making it a lil repulsive.
Awesome graphics and look, great mood & feel to the game.
@all thanks!

This is a game about war and hate. Child who plays this war suffers from real war which claimed the lives of his parents and destroyed his childhood. So, there is could be only one ending.
...you've made me killed them all...you're a monster!
If I could rate 10/5 in mood, I would. Each click made my heart shiver, I first was afraid, and then, after the blocks jumping (witch I failed at least 20 times) I was hateful.
Looks like I was YOUR puppet.
@Pierrec
Thanks! Glat you liked it.
>after the blocks jumping (witch I failed at least 20 times) I was hateful.
Know I see that I need to get rid of this "small" challenge. Gonna make a postcompo build with more accurate controls.
Yes and no...
When I say I was hateful...it is not a bad thing. I really thought there would be something great behind this wall, I was full of hope, and when I saw more soldiers, I became hateful and kill them all! It was something a bit disturbing, but great.
(Do don't get rid of the challenge...but you can make the cubes a bit closer ^^)
I thought the music and toy soldiers being blown to smithereens were very effective. Slightly uncanny too.
@Pierrec
Oh, I see now. I have some plans on post-compo build (I'm not sure when I'll be able to make it). I have something to add (not so special, but interesting) and I will reduce the difficulty of block jumping.
@ilo, @HD408 - thanks!
I was really sucked into this one. The guys blowing up scared the crap out of me. Good Job!
I hate to say it, but it wasn't a hole load of fun. The enemy's didn't fight back and the mission was short. But I have to say the audio was nice and the graphics had an interesting effect. Not considering the downsides, this was a really cool entry. Good job and I can't wait to see the post-compo release.
They can't fight back, they, well, just a little toy soldiers.
Awesome entry, really liked the graphics, the audio and the mood. really awesome job!
what an experience ... I'm blown away.
one of the best atmospheres this LD. it's amazing how you abstracted the theme and experience of war into this world while still including all the horror and cruelty of it.
Somehow the graphics reminded me to the first of the "Alone In the Dark" series and that just enhanced the creepyness. Resulting in an awesome ambience. I got scared with the exploding squad!
i love the graphics.
The "jump" on the space bar is a little hard to reach when we use the arrows, i think you can also put "jump" on "Ctrl" ;)
Great game : bravo ! :)
Very pretty! I loved the film grain effect and the colors, it's so melancholy and a little nightmarish! Mood is awesome!
The story was nice, the controls could be a bit faster, but overall, very good!
Very very cool! The graphics, the atmosphere and the audio were astounding! The controls felt a bit slow, but I read that your making a post compo build to fix that would be great! Very cool, and interesting!
Very nicely made, great graphics! Could use some more gameplay though.
I thought that using toy soldiers to fight a serious war was a funny idea. It's also funny (to me) the way the toys fall apart. The rest of the mood is really serious though, so, I had a hard time knowing how I'm supposed to take it and didn't think the mood was as great as everyone else seems to. This game keeps insisting it's serious and I keep feeling like a jerk for wanting to laugh.
The way the character plodded along and shot people with exactly the same difficulty as talking to them was not much fun.
The graphics and audio are both excellent.
I think character should move faster and there should be more options, but other than that great job with the style!

I respectfully disagree. I don't think you should change it, because it's not my business to tell you what message your game should send, but imagine this: the player reaches the enemy battlemaster with no kills and they sign a truce instead.
I think seeing the child deal with his grief in a positive way, and take what I think is the only right lesson from what he's seen (that war is terrible and should be avoided), would be a beautiful thing, and giving the player control over that ending would be very powerful.

Yes, I think this is very interesting suggestion, but in Real War I wanted to show only pain and grief, without any light moments.
Children are very selfish and so this ending seems to me unnatural.
Maybe I'm too bad expressed the story of the child, and his grief does not seem so strong.
@nuprahtor
Well, that's one way of looking at it, but I do think the game says more about war than it does about the child. I enjoyed it either way, well done =)

Neat graphics. I like the background ambience. Controls are awkward and sluggish. Goal of the game is unclear, though the prose was nice.
