Pastor Mundi

by Geti - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Only had today to do this as I was jamming on saturday.

The actual gameplay isn't finished at all, sadly. You're going to be a shepherd guarding your flock from wolves, as well as ensuring your sheep stay fed (thus the gardening aspect).

Everything went surprisingly quickly. Spend about 12 hours on it according to the clock (subtracting food time, rest time and IRC breaks).

Sorry for no sound, didn't have time :(

How to "Play":

Unrar the archive somewhere convenient.
Run the game (choose a high res if you like)

Arrows UDLR to move.
X to plant seeds (near suitable soil) (strangely therapeutic)
K to lose hope (quits the game)
ESC quickly quits

Not really complete. But I wish it were. I like the games graphical style (Low poly and low res), but I can't really do much with only the basics of the game in. I'm quite interested in seeing this game finished though (I'm a fan of Harvest Moon type games).

Fantastic graphics, spent a few minutes just wandering. If there were a goal to the game of course, it would be better ;)

Sounds like it would be fun when completed. The movement feels a bit jerky but the graphics are nice. Would be better with sound and obviously gameplay. Jumping off the cliff while pressing k is fun.

I can't run it because of keyboard compatibility issues. Could you perhaps make alternate keyboard layouts? :3

It does look interesting, though.

A very nice looking entry and I like the graphical style a lot. I hope you do choose to continue this and make it into a full game, as your idea does sound very cool.

This begs to be made into a full game with mouse look and objectives. Glad you tried something different, graphics are crispy as usual.

For being very incomplete, this surprisingly felt really good! I planted a lot of seeds, and then mistakenly stepped into the lake :-/ I really like the graphics and color palette; they work really well! Controls felt a bit too fluid; turning was really fast, and a bit hard to control. "K" was fun, and I felt rather terrible for pressing it! Anyway, great start, really want to see what this turns into! Thanks!

It's not bad for 12 hours! Of course, it's not really a "game" yet - not having any objectives or obstacles that I can tell.

The look is amazing. Although, there seems to be some jerkiness to the camera or controls (or both). I don't think it's framerate related but I'm not sure.

Having a "lose hope" but was a very nice touch! :D

Like others said, for being unfinished this was surprisingly satisfying.

This game makes me wish Ludum Dare had a scoring category called "Potential" - if it did I would award 5 stars here without hesitation, because clearly a lot of skill and talent has gone in to this creation but as you say the gameplay isn't at all finished, there's no sound, etc. (also I can't yet see how you were going to have it fit the theme 'Tiny World'). I've scored it highly 'Overall' and in 'Graphics' (it's good to see nicely animated and textured 3D models in a LD game), but the other categories feel like they're not quite there. Yet. Hence the wish for a 'Potential' category. (After all, I think everyone's game is partly unfinished and has potential to become something more - that's the nature of a 48 hour competition!). I hope that makes sense and you think it's a fair assessment. Keep up the good work! :)

There may not be much here but it's gorgeous! I noted that spacebar lets you make a little hop, and I used that to fully explore all of the architecture and get up next to the front of the house.

I am in love with the lo-fi 3d- the terrain and the warm pastel palette. It is very artful. The skull cave particularly looks cool, and the character animation for dying is quite great in its nice level of detail.

I can't wait to see more! (I assume you will continue working on it based on the description?)

Thanks for all the positive comments, hopefully I can find some time around KAG work and uni to add some simple gameplay to this :)

Love the graphics style for this 3D game, and im glad there was a decent sized level, since exploring and planting seeds is pretty much all there is to do in this game. Has potential though
And I also got stuck in the ocean :)
Controls went a bit crazy when I tried to climb that wooden house, player spun around crazily for a bit.

Hope to see this game more evolved. The overall base idea is promising.

I planted some seeds, awkwardly went up the wooden path to the shelter, found no way in, fell down, saw the scary cave entrance, couldn't enter, went into the water, kept walking into sea, fell through world, pressed K. That was fun. :D

I'm really curious of what this could have been. Make sure you finish it.

Interesting visual style, that I really loved! Not much else to do here. I hope you continue on this game as it feels really nice even thought it is totaly unfinished. Simon
