April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
First things first: This game runs like absolute crap. I know, and I'm sorry. The way game maker handles objects makes it really hard to optimize without re-writing tons of code. I guess I could have coded it a bit better, but oh well.
Anyway! This is game is kind of a ... platformer RPG of sorts? It has some grinding in it, but that was mostly because I enjoy that kind of stuff, not because I wanted to pad out the game. The main goal is to get to the ... goal thingy in the middle of the planet.
I'm sorry if this doesn't tie to the theme that well. I tried to make the ending fit it better, but I don't think it worked as well as it could have. I ended up rushing because I would prefer to sleep soundly tonight without stressing over Ludum Dare.
Anyway, controls are included in the readme, so be sure to read it! Thanks for playing. I had a lot (A LOT) of fun making this. :)

I love the theme changes, and the starts really cool when he gets out the ship. You say it runs bad, I think it's fine. There's slow movement but I think it fits as a style of game play. I like how stuff is small on a big map, but it can get a bit hard to look at it. Anyway, I think this is great!
Really great looking game. I love all the different music. Leveling up is takes a long time, though.
The game runs very slowly (as you said) which makes it very difficult to play. This aside, graphics and audio are wonderful
It was great running around the world, leveling up, and figuring out how best to use the screen wrapping mechanics! I love that the regions have titles and different music, it really makes the game feel like a big world with several dungeons instead of one big dungeon.
The underhang was incredibly cruel, though. I died fighting the final boss, restarted at the checkpoint, and was knocked off directly onto the desert checkpoint. I had already fallen off once and retraced my way through the dungeon, and I ragequit.
Yeah I was worried the Underhang might be too difficult ... glad you enjoyed the music though! I had a lot of fun doing that.
Very compelling, I didn't collect all of the hearts but made it to the end. Cool little ending too. Nicely rounded game. :)
Sweet, always wanted to make something like this. Modern displays are pretty spacious when you use 8x8 tiles :) I liked how Terraria took advantage of that too.
Gave up after getting to the little checkpoint in the underhang though - when I died it (seemingly erroneously) teleported me back to the desert zone, and I couldn't muster the will to fight my way back down there again.
Cool that you've got save states though, maybe I'll give it another go later.
Awesome :) This fits the theme perfectly, has great graphics, and a cool tiny world! I found the secret heart at the top (pretty obvious) but the one on the right just vexes me... I know I can get into those little steps by jumping from the frozen world (hard enough), but I don't have enough vertical height to jump between the second and third one (I can land in the third one straight away, anyway), and definitely not to the top one. I know it's possible to double jump but this seems like a bug, and if I double jump I *still* can't make it to the top. What gives?
I did beat it, but I think only by going back to the boss over and over until his hit points were worn down. He's hard. And the underhang spawn is placed such that if you die you're likely to just fall right off it, and then you have to suicide before you touch another respawn spot!
But, I loved this; one of my favorites so far...
Oh, also, when you're in the middle of the board the level transition messages are right on top of you and that's distracting!
BTW it ran super smooth on my machine, so it's not that bad. :)
This one is really excellent, the gameplay is extremely frustrating but very addictive, it's very stylish and clever, fits the theme perfectly; awesome job!
Good job, had fun in his pretty hard game. Couldn't finish the game (too diffucult + respawn at random checkpoints sometime ?!), I gave up after failling the bottom violet jump 5 times ^^"
Realisation is great, split in several "worlds" with different themes is excellent, gameplay is ok, sound and musics are pretty great (for a 8bit style), scene camera is brainded, graphics are varied. Very good overall !
Thanks for the game =)
I loved the concept so much I wish I had made this game! =(
Too bad it runs too slow in my computer, so I won't be able to rate it in most categories.
Different music for each area was great. The game feels like a mini-castlevania!
Nice visuals and nice music/sound, but it is rather hard to play. :)
Woaaaa! Great idea but very hard. But I like that! It´s a tough one and very inspiring! Thx!
This is hard as crap, but the changing music and the progression is REALLY genius. The songs are great, and the visuals are cute and tiny. Good work!
