April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
*******PLEASE READ THIS SECTION********
Please try my update (after voting on original version).
I've worked at adding a bit more to it (it's almost like a real game now!)
Just added music too although not quite got it linking from one bit to the next as I'd want it. Main;y because it never seems to run at the right framerate
Ah well.
Still to come - day counter (to see how long you survived) and might need to add an extra column to the score counter seeing as you currently can't accumulate more than 9999 bees)
Thanks for trying this out! Any feedback or shameless promotion is more than welcome :D :D
*********Thanks!!***********
How to Play
You start with 1 bee, click to send him out. Collect pollen to get more bees.
Click twice if you want to send out 2 bees (if you have 2 bees) or 3 times for 3 bees etc (No limit on number of bees)
Bees are deaf, so there's no sound (this could be a lie to justify not adding sound).
I'll be adding more to this after the jam so if you like it there'll be updates at:

You can also check out 'By Candlelight", which is a work in progress (and me learning to design, draw and use XNA/C#)

40 bees, dunno if it is alot ;p The animation made it all look cooler
I liked the pixel art and the general concept. Maybe you should add some difficulty (and a way to lose).
Not bad. I ended with 110 bees. There's a nice exponential growth factor going on there. I started becoming hard to click fast enough to send out all the bees.
233 Bees, was fun, but would get old pretty quite just rapidly clicking I'd think, but good entry. :)
Haha, this game had me hooked for much longer then I'd care to admit. I really like the art and the extremely simple but yet effective gameplay mechanics. Turned into a "spam click on the closest bunch of flowers"-game as soon as I got the hang of the idea tho.
A little more gameplay wouldn't hurt. The strongest part are definitely graphics.
I just want to say THANKS genuinely for all the feedback :) I'm still trying to get the hang of everything so just that anyone thinks the concept/art/anything is even remotely good is awesome to me. The overall standard on here is great so I really respect everything that everyone has said. I'll be uploading an update version with a bit more 'game' to it hopefully by the weekend so please check back if you thought it had promise. Thanks everyone.
You have a original idea.
I would have liked more interaction, but it's a good game :)
missing some gameplay elements, but I think it's a great start of something interesting. It's unique, and not many games can claim that ;)
Nice graphics; perhaps the gameplay would be more engaging if you added some obstacles or enemies to make it more tactical or challenging?
Quick question. Well, 2 actually. 1: I'm working on adding bits to this leading up to the weekend, I've got 2 control schemes working. On this version the bees follow the mouse pointer, but I've also got it that the bees just fly where you click when they're released then buzz on back to the hive with or without pollen. Does anyone think one is better than the other? Also quesion 2: is there a way to upload a 'post-jam' version with my new enemy sprites and actual gameplay mechanics in the game? Thanks everyone
I really liked the graphics! The game was not that hard though, some more gameplay would be nice
There should add a target to aim for, including a gameplay mechanism which make it necessary to decide what to do instead of clicking multiple times somwhere on the screen.
I got 192 bees :D
Interesting idea and lovely art :)
The gameplay wasn't really exciting, which was a shame :P but I really liked the bees' bee-like movement :3
I managed to breed 166 bees and still I don't know how... The graphics are sure cute and well done, but the game play is repetitive and boring.
Really neat-looking, and it's mesmerizing watching the bees fly around - I like their pathfinding; very realistic-seeming. Not much to the game part, but it looks beautiful with the flowers and clouds dashing by.
Looks really neat and clean, some good potential here. Let down a little by lack of music, but shows a lot of promise!
Would have been nice with music and sound. The graphics were good except the grass background, but the flowers were pretty and so was the hive and sky line. Good colours, good fonts, etc.
Liked the game and the sprites, a little hard to play it, and to use the controls
Cute! :) I like the graphics and the different levels of scaling between them. Ended with 39 bees. I think it's a really nice little package, therapeutic and fun to interact with. I'd be excited to see some skill involved in the gameplay that can help or hinder your production of bees.
I will be keeping an eye on this for the later version! :)
Looks really cool, but is there any better strategy than randomly clicking?
Forget the lawnmower I'm ripping that out. I have an idea for a game that actually has a purpose to it. Might work, might not. I plan to have this ready for Sunday so check back then.
Update is ready except for sound and day counter! See how long you can survive :D
Wow. Innovative, pretty, and with huge potential. The post-compo game is excellent (Introducing the night = brilliant), but alas I could only rate your compo entry, which is still pretty and innovative. Great work!

Is there a way to get more than one point in a single trip from the nest? How do you get more bees?
