April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Watch your tiny islanders work, sleep and just stroll around. Guide them to gather food and prevent the little family from starvation!
Drag and drop flags to create jobs. One inhabitant will take the job. It's one worker per flag. Place a "bow" flag next to a tree to hunt (for squirrels :D) and a "fish" flag at the shore to... well, fish.
Time went by so fast. It's been huge fun. But, the game was too ambitious. I couldn't include some of the elementary functionality, like love + breeding. I decided to submit nevertheless. Should have started with gameplay instead of graphics, as always.
The graphics are made solely by code. Everything is just arcs, rectangles and lines. I'd really need some tool for that, took a hell lot of time -.-
It's really more of an ant farm watching experience. Still, enjoy!

D'oh. Sorry, it works just fine for me, however... I wonder what's the reason.
Definitely more work to be done here, but it's a good start, and I like the vector-y style.
I did have a little trouble figuring out where I could and could not put a fishing flag.
Admitted, there is not much to do. I wanted fish swarms, volcanoes and love... But, well, 48 hours are very little after all. Also focused on graphics too early. Also I'm pretty sure I should have left the color bars out.
Cool that you liked the graphics style. That's the one thing I 'm kinda proud of ^^
Nice graphics. Needs more things to do. Not always obvious where to place flags - perhaps some kind of indicator?
Definitely needs some sort of guidance, I know. Probably should add some sort of area highlighting. But really I'd like to add more things to do and properly balance those available.
@Pixelulsar: you should put bow flags next to trees and fish flags in the water close to shore.
the concept is intresting, somewhat reminding of majesty game, but features are definitely lacking. otherwise, i'd surely like to see an expanded version, if you are planning any :D
Nice litte life sim, drawing all that with code seems like an odd choice, given the time constraint. What did you build this in?
I tabbed off the page to come back here and rate, and when I checked back on it, half the little guys came back in from the sides of the screen :S
@gritfish: I built it using just Notepad++ and Firefox + Firebug. And... the bug... well, there is no limit on the time delta, so sometimes when the next frame comes in after some seconds the guys suddently move for a large amount.
It's not even a full game, more like an idea. That will be great if you will continue working on it, but now it's too small.
Impressive to know you did all the graphics by code. Took me a while to figure out what the bars were for. Although there's still a lot to improve (like you said yourself) it was still quite nice to play
