April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
It's robot mating season once again and the robots are flocking to your tiny world with your tiny house on it. You've put your laser proof viking helm on so it's time to headbutt these jerks off your land!
Btw Space is to headbutt and the arrow keys are for movement.
Sorry for being 1h45min late, this was my first time doing something like this and I didn't know that I couldn't use file input streams in jars and i spent the last 2+ hours fixing that...
All and all a great experience, I learned a lot!
UPDATE:
I was having a lot of trouble getting my game to work as an applet over the weekend however I decided for kicks I'd try and load the page again and sure enough it worked... I've attached a link to the web version, it will probably ask you for permissions.
UPDATE 2:
Apparently there are some issues for Mac users.

A fun game, though it could use some extra things, such has health and getting damage from the lazers. now you only die when not reating fast enough. fun game besides that
Awesome Game, Great graphics. Has a lot of fun with this one.
Just wanted to specifically say that I enjoyed the exact awkward timing between falling and the gave over screen.
Thanks for the comments guys I love to get feedback! I actually had a much larger scope for the game when I started but my inexperience kept me from my initial goals like waves of robots each increasing in difficulty with different enemies and a final boss fight or even sound for that matter haha. Bugs turned into features and my code is such a mess T.T , I learned a lot tho and it's time to start honing my skills for LD24... right after I finish playing a few more games that is :P.
***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Robot mating season? Laser proof Viking helmet? Awesome. That said I would like to see the helmet actually knock the robots back. I died many times since I held my arrow keys too long.
The concept of a viking headbutting robots off of his island is pretty great-- thanks for the submission!
You dang robots get off of my lawn!
Was amusing, but needs sound.
Simple and nice game! I really enjoyed the graphics and it was oddly compelling to keep pushing robots off the edge. I think some sound would have definitely helped. Hope to see you in LD24!
It was pretty cool, but seems very unfinished. Its a great idea though!
@Hazematman: I'm pretty new to this whole game making thing but ya it was very unfinished :(
@johannhat: I hope to be in LD24 :D
Attractive character design and sprites, but the game feel was wonky central. There didn't seem to be any weight or heft to how my character moved, which is odd considering he is an overweight viking. Maybe some kind of inertial model? Also, the collision seemed a bit off I swear I went through a robot. Overall, the concept is sound and if you tweak the game feel and add a bit of audio this could be pretty rad.
A couple thoughts:
It seems to run really fast on my machine, which makes it hard to play. Jumping in particular is problematic. I mention it because I'm not sure that's the intent.
Also, when you're moving I think it'd be helpful to try to get the camera to move ahead of the player, especially with a game like this.
The graphics are nice and cartoony and I like the concept, it could probably be expanded.
Thanks for the comments as for running really fast I think it should run at the same pace for everyone, I used change in time to make speed unchanging at lower or higher frame rates. I wish I could have even tweaked the game a little more but I used every minute I was available, just a sign I need more experience.
The art is cute! I think the gameplay is very fun. I don't know if it's bug but when I pushing the robots and they shooting to me, I lose the grap and end up to fall. The rest are fine.
Awesome game, hilarious story. Headbutting vikings? Makes perfect sense.
Mmmm pratically, the important is to get your space bar down, and can't you die?
Can see the good idea, though. Well done
@cjke.7777 : I thought everything was going to fall apart on me near the end but despite being so unfinished I find myself playing my game over and over when I have a minute lol, maybe i'm just in love with myself :P
Got to 33! :) Really silly, also "robot mating season" is amazing. I think it's a fun concept for an arcade-style game that could be really interesting if you fleshed it out more or explored a similar concept! I like that you are pushing them to the edges rather than just jumping on them or striking them with a weapon.
I like the graphic style and must say you have a pretty slick logo design at the start there :P
Ha! Awesome. I loved the graphics and the premise behind the game. Some sound and music would have been nice, and it could have used a bit more depth. But, I enjoyed it, nice job!
I killed 16 :o
I found that if I keep pressing the spacebar it's easier to push robots.
This is a fun concept and pretty well done overall, but there didn't seem to be any consequence to me just holding in space the whole time. Maybe make it so pressing space lunges you forward and sends the robots back further?

My fiancee and I found it really funny, and I like the idea, not sure I've played many games like it. However, it lacks depth and would've been cooler with sound.
