April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
A Prototype Game :)
Please read the Readme... I know you don't want to...
By the way, its a .jar, so there's only need for one download :)
Edit: Uploaded the wrong version :(

Not entirely sure what is going on, did read the readme, only contains controls, no real instructions.
Graphics are hard to discern what things are.
World size seems to be limited however, so fits with the theme.
Didn't really know what was going on. I managed to mine a few stone before giving up. Between total lack of direction, lack of crafting options, and the slow movement of the player, it was a bit frustrating.
Sorry, ran out of time :)
Download is 'Windows only' because its a .jar and platform independent...
Yeah, I actually uploaded the wrong version, but I'm not expecting a high fun! I still think I did well with the graphics considering I'm not very good...
By the way, if you are on windows, please tell me if the opening theme music plays or not :|

Oh, and I will actually finish it properly, so if you want to keep an eye on my progress (ie. making it playable) then do... Sorry to disappoint you with the poor game though :(

Interesting. The walking speed is a little slow, but maybe that's something you fixed already in the right version? Shame about that, but hopefully you'll be able to do something with it later.
Some people add links for all platforms, Mac OS X / Linux, and just point it to the same file.
About the game; It's a bit difficult to rate in its current form, and you're probably aware of that. Just don't give up.
Yeah, the walking speed was fine in Eclipse, but is a little slow (bug? or low frame rate) in the .jar version.
To run a .jar, you should just need to double click it...
Yeah, I'll fix the download links. The game was rushed - I missed about a four hour chunk out of one day, and haven't made a game in ages... :( But now I'm inspired - I'm thinking about nicking the codebase for something else...

Good starting point for a bigger project. Something was problematic for me though: On my set up the walking speed seems linked to the keyboard repeat rate rather than direct key press. This is a shame because the playability is impacted. I would probably have spent longer exploring if it wasn't for this.
I also found this game a bit frustrating as it's unclear what I'm supposed to do (even after reading the readme). But it's a nice start :) Keep up the good work I hope you're able to develop it further.
It was apparent you put alot of thought and effort into this, though i just had no inclination to want to explore and figure any of it out. It would've really helped if your read-me had been decently formatted so i could read it more easily.
Thanks for the comments, it makes it seem worthwhile :) It was my first proper time using Java, and I should have built up the project incrementally, rather than doin graphics and music first. Yeah, I did notice that the movement rate changed between keyboards, although it should be linked to frame rate - possibly to do with your computer? Either that or I just imagined changing the movement speed (easy enough to do...)

Liked the idea - had a hard time figuring out the controls - but nice to see all the effort.
I have no idea what's going on here. I understand that I can craft stuff, but how? And how do I kill the first zombie? Also, when moving you need to make a "while (keysidown) {move}" as opposed to "while (key was initially pressed) {move}"
Thanks for the comments - sadly, you can't kill the zombie (it glitches...). For crafting, press 'c' then click on what you want to craft. Thanks for the key advice :) I wish I had put a lot more practice in - next time I'm probably using C++ which I'm more familiar with.
It took a little while, even with the help of the readme file to figure out how to do things, but I eventually managed to gather up some resources, craft some items, get some higher tier tools and so forth. I did never figure out how to deal with the enemies or whatever they are in the bottom right corner of the map. The movement controls were quite awkward as well, making it difficult to move around much. It could be quite fun with some more work tho. Crafting is always fun. :)

LOL the only download is for windows, and the screen shot is mac!
