April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
William is in peril. While working on his keynote in Word, something terrible has happened. Will you help him escape from evil Steephen?
Notes:
* If you have XNA 4.0 installed, grab the XNA version of the game.
* IF you don't have XNA 4.0 installed, grab the MonoGame version of the game - it's a bit dodgy at times, but works on most Windows PCs.
Note to self:
* Don't use XNA. Don't hope that porting will be possible.

It took until I realized that Steephen looked like the Apple symbol to really sink in, but that was clever and gave me a good laugh while still having fun, simple gameplay with graphics that do their job. :)
Hey tumblr/twitter buddy :) Played your game a bit, the idea is very original (it made me lol) and controls are smooth and responsive. Graphics are simple and sweet. Good job!
cant play on linux either, but I've accadently crossed upon your timelapse on youtube, why don't you put it here?
Welp, best rating I've given so far. Be happy, dammit. Be happy.
Very nice looking, but rather easy. You get the rocket launcher on the way there and a bunch of ammo, and the boss dies without even touching you. I actually didn't realize which way to go and assumed I would find a thing or get attacked BY the boss, so I just wandered off and wondered where the powerups went. Then I walked off the map and the game crashed so I tried again and DID follow the red and the game was much better that way. I did have a problem with jumping onto walls, because if you bump into one you get knocked up, but otherwise the game played fine. I'm a bit confused at why the world was so huge if there's not much in it, especially considering the theme. That threw me off quite a lot. The rest of the world is completely devoid of enemies all the way to the center pit where the boss is. This is a good game, just really easy and sparse.
Great! Loved the intro, and the environment graphics! Good fun all around (and this coming from an Apple fan!)
Isometric was cool and BSOD intro was awesome. I also crashed while wandering off the map and world is very empty unless you go the right way. Good
@VDOgamez: Yes, the map is quite big, and the world feels empty. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to balance the game properly - I have realized in the last hour there was no way to kill the enemies, only to die, so I had to fix this ;). Also, the weapon drops are 100% random.
@R3ason: haha, next game I'm going to make is going to start with a spinning umbrella you will control a skinny guy on a mission to kill a nerd ;)
Smooth and responsive, graphics are perfect for an isometric game. Also, there wasn't much to shoot on the way to the boss. Every so often little guys would appear but they would just explode on the walls.
Think you could add in gamepad support? This would probably run on an XBox pretty easily.
@mikolalysenko, @omaha, @matheus23: Sorry about that, guys. I will try and make a MonoGame build, which will hopefully work on more machines.
@Izzimach: sure I could, if I had a way to test it on XBOX. Unfortunately I'm unable to get into XBLA dev program.
Finally after downloading Visual C# 2010 Express, and XNA I was able to run it.
Fun game. Intro was amazing for a while I was thinking that it was real blue screen :D
Too bad you didn't add more enemies on the way to the boss
@Mago: WOW, thanks for jumping through so many hoops just to play my game! I wanted to make the BSOD fullscreen for better immersion, but somehow during the jam this didn't seem like a good idea, I don't remember why now... And yes. I realize the level is poorly designed. Should I make a sequel? ;)
This game looks great! Very funny intro too. The rockets made the boss easy, but I spent so much time preparing for him anyways. :)
The most polished game I've played so far, and the opening transition was quite impressive. Nice work!
Some of the audio got a bit annoying, but always fun to circle strafe Apple and fire missiles at it. Would have liked to see a few more enemies to spice up walking around finding weapons. Good game though.
Really great graphics here. Fun gameplay, I just wish there was more stuff to shoot while you're exploring the level. Awesome intro as well! Great job!
Great stuff done with the bsod dude! But there is not a lot of ennemies there it seems.
Nice little game. Of course I didn't follow red and ran about on pretty empty space. Later moving on to the boss and got killed fast.
Quite good, nice intro. It needs a bit more enemies and different looking places.
Well done, the transition from blue screen to the actual stage was really cool. The graphics are nice and movement and shooting works well, but the gameplay is rather simple though, when you grap the rocket launcher there is so much ammo for it you can instantly destroy the boss with a rocket spam.
***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Good job. Controls were a bit touchy at first, but found that to be a good thing at the end. Like the BSOD intro and theme.
Haha, I liked the BSOD, I totally fell for it. Would've liked more challenge with different enemies and harder to find weapons. But hey, we just have 48 hours so, great job! I enjoyed playing it
After reading your post, I was very looking forward to try this!
But I've got a Mac...
Would have been great if the game started in fullscreen for the bsod!
I really liked the graphics and gameplay, but I felt like I was running around for too long trying to find what to do and where to go.
I eventually killed the boss thing though :p
A few more enemies wouldn't have gone amiss but liked the idea, and the intro was good fun.
Couldn't play, don't have XNA installed or admin rights on this machine, and MonoGame version crashes. :( Looks nice though, congrats!
can't test as XNA4 crashes under WINE....tried the monogame version too and same results.
Interesting concept, very funny/awesome opening. Gameplay was slightly disappointing for me- I was playing with a laptop trackpad, which is hard, but worse, the mouse was hidden, I could only seem to aim when the invisible mouse cursor happened to be over the window. So, to get aim back, I'd have to stop moving and swish the mouse around until aim was restored. So, I had trouble shooting stuff. But it was very smoothly animated and fun. I share others' concerns with a lack of direction and enemies - I spent the first five minutes wandering around picking up ammo, saw one bad guy who suicided on me, and then nothing. I had no real idea what to do; tried following the red path for a while, but he said that would lead to my doom, so I didn't really want to. But, very funny and well-made despite these minor criticisms - nice work.
Once I realized I could jump over the white blocks life was suddenly good again. Lost the battle against Steephen but had fun anyway. Since the map is hellin' big it may be a wise idea to add some arrows pointing to the general direction where the player is supposed to go. At first I went north and I reached the upper edge of the board. It took me a while to find the effin' red path. It's a solid entry overall. Loved the graphics and the humor.
I felt like I was ice skating most of the time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The map technique was clever and the destructible walls were an especially nice touch.
On the MonoGame version I didn't seem to have any sound.
Good work!
Visually stunning to say the least, reminds me of those old isometric Game Boy games somehow! I liked it!
Collisions and sounds were annoying, but apart from that it's a fun game! Cool transition at the beginning, nice particle effects.
If it had started on fullscreen automatically it would have scared the crap out of me! I enjoyed the humor and the use of the theme. The feedback on wall colliding is a bit too much but I liked it!

Not a whole lot to comment on audio wise, but I love the premise and that transition from the BSOD to the actual game level was awesome. Really great visual stuff and solid mechanics.
