Don't forget to unzip before playing.
Nice idea for a game. I've wanted to do a sound-only game, but your approach was different. Found the kitty too.
Nothing happens when I try to run it either. Windows Vista 64.
I double click the executable Jar file and nothing happens. Same thing when I right click and choose "Open" from the context menu.
strange ..jiggawatt is on win7bit and it works for him.. i just tried it on 32bit XP and it worked but sum1 on irc said it didnt on their xp32bit .. must b to do with something not being installed on sum systems.. all il never track that down :(
Interesting idea. Been planning on doing something similar for a while as well.
ive updated the zip with some libs that meant some ppl couldnt run it.. it should work for every1 now :)
Huh, its still not working... I have JARs set to open with 7-zip, any chance for some sort of a launcher?
I try to run this and get "Could not find the main class: Alone. Program will exit." on Win7 x64.
Nice idea, reminds me of an old LD game of mine (Soundscape). The music starts to get very annoying after a while, a way to turn it off would be nice. A level counter would be nice to keep your progress, I had to skip level 9 but I'd probably try harder if I knew it was level 9 ;)
@binary can u just 'open with' javaw.exe ?
@facticius ive no idea why you would get that as its worked for some on win764bit but not others on win764bit soz :(
ya some1 else said about not knowing what level u were on ;( my music annoying?!? never ;p i should of thought of a mute thing soz.. will do 1 next time :)
cheers man :) i wanted to do alot more with the sound but as u know time was tight heh ;p
Nice concept and I like the ambiance. I think I was progressing through levels, but I'm not completely sure :-)
hehe if u hear a panning bass sound and slightly see the old maze go off to the right and new from the left then u r progressing (if u wernt being sarcastic hehe) cheersman :)
Awesome idea, although it is a bit difficult to get the hang of it.
thanks matt. :) i knw what u mean.. time and all.. use yer mind..u can do it ;p
nice game idea, i like it, i do feel like level 9 was the hardest, and that the sonar mostly threw me off? but that might have been because i was rushing, i think the BGM kinda fits the mood i would expect in a game like this, too, as with a lot of these games, and yea, it took me about 3 levels to realize i was actually making progress, since the first two level endings i was like "wtf? suddenly visuals? well whatever the hell that was, i have an exit to find"
Awesome. When the theme was announced, I thought that a blind game would be perfect. I'm really glad somebody was brave enough to make one, and it's really cool.
The text and the flashing level images add a lot of your personality into the game, but I did feel that they slightly detracted from the mood. Perhaps the intro/instructions screen could have been a sign, then fade effect/bandana into a pitch black rest of the game? Then unfade back to vision for kitty, idk. :)
Very sweet game.
@sirius level9?! well done i cant even get that far hehe..i thought i needed abit of something to show the level progress and i already had the gfx done but just thought a quick flash of it was enough..maybe i should of left it out ;p cheersman :)
@arron i hear ya..i kind of felt tho ppl would of thought it was too easy for me to code if it was just a black screen etc (not that thats a bad thing heh) i really wanted to do alot more with the sound like pitch+gain changes according to how far the wall was away etc but i could get the sound libs i tried to work without being really buggy , plus i kind of didnt leave myself enough time as i had a party to go to ;( cheers 4 feedback man :)
Very nice. Runs fine on Win XP 32-bit. At first the audio cues were a little confusing- I couldn't tell if I was making a footstep noise or bumping into walls. But I figured it out.
cheersman.. i tried to make them as seperate sounding as pos with the time heh ;p
Great idea, cool radar sound. I thought it was super hard because I'm a bit stupid and the game mechanic was a bit repetitive. Solid entry overall.
cheersman.. im glad u atleast heard the sonar sound ( some linux users arent hearing it for some reason (think it mite be kernel support (not sure (i like opening and closing parenthesis)))) :)
Very interesting! And hellishly difficult! Is it me or the goal moves around in later levels? I would send the sonar in one direction and hear the goal "pang", then send it again and not hear it anymore. It would have been better to warn players of this possibility!
But I liked it a lot, that was quite different.
Suggestion: After completing each level, show a replay of the player walking around the maze (a-la meat boy). It would have been cool to see me going round and round :-)
Maybe you should add a random level generator too?
ahh good ideas man.. the exit doesnt move around altho i think there is a bug on either the 3rd or 4th level that makes it appear that it does (keeps fooling me aswell ;p) just press space to skip it :)
Great game! I didn't finish all the levels because some are hard.
Really loved the blind/sonar concept.
Overall, well done.
The sonar seems a little inconsistant in counting the number of squares in a direction. Sometimes it would delay longer between blips and skip some.
When I first played the game I was expecting the floating text to go away and be left with a black screen, and it took me a while to realise I was supposed to be playing. I think I might have prefered it that way, with a blank black screen (and fullscreen).
@lano cheersman.. @cosr thanks.. a few ppl have said that.. i kind of felt like it would of seemed like a cop out (like i hadnt programmed much if i did that but i think it prob would of been better like that actually ;p

I was unable to run it :/
