Long Walk Home

by JAH2488 - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Story Notes : You just want to get home, but the sun has set early and you've lost your way. You know that these caves are full of holes and passageways, lets just hope you can keep enough batteries in your flashlight to make it over the wall and home!

GamPlay Notes : Use your flashlight to see further and move faster, but remember to conserve that battery life!
Look for hidden items, each item will make your adventure easier.
Falling is okay. Sometimes its best to start from the bottom and work your way up.

Dev Notes : Wow was this a crazy ride. I think I was horribly unprepared for just how much this takes out of you. You have to be so focused and so productive and also pretty fast to make any significant progress. I'm content with my creation, but its far from what I envisioned and I plan on finishing the project and polishing i tup so its something special.

The first time I played it, I thought that the game was super-short, but the second time around it proved to be a bit deeper. It seems like there is a lot going on, but I spent a lot of time waiting for a jump to charge. This has potential to be an awesome game, if it contained some sounds, music, and a bit of guidance for the player at the start.

Pretty cool. I had a lot of fun just wandering around, but I couldn't really tell what the point was. Nice looking game, the overall style is solid.

Too much time waiting for jump to charge.

Wow, that was pretty cool! There's a lot of depth here (excuse the pun). Now that I look back at the items list, there are actually fewer items than I perceived, but that's what counts. Felt like a real adventure, with lots of possibility. Took me a minute or so to figure out how to use the jetpack (had to re-read the instructions), but it worked well once I did.

No audio was a bummer, but easily rectified in future versions. Nice work, and I would play it again!

This game is awesome! It has well written mechanics - what a lot of game doesn't have. Good control, good collision detection and particles! :D

I liked the Idea of having batteries recharge, although it would be nice if they would recharge a bit faster. That said, finding the extra battery packs scattered about kept me going for quite a while.

I liked it. Very classic platformer. Some of the background/foreground contrast could be improved.
