December 16th-19th 2011 :: Theme: Alone
First time using Stencyl, resulting in a horrible 48 hours. Survive the desert by navigating through using the compass in the bottom right of the screen. Mouse clicks for everything!
MS Paint for graphics, audio in Audacity (murdering a guitar), game in Stencyl.
Native resolution is 640 x 480 but it seems to stretch in browser, so I uploaded it to the Stencyl site: http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/10168 same game just the proper resolution.

It certainly inspires alone-ness. I was eventually cut down by capitalism but that's life. Extra points for creepy guitar noises.
Graphics and music are plain awesome. I like that weird and creepy mood. Good job :)
I laughed, too, the humor works really well with the mood :)
You nailed the theme on this one. Music and graphics worked really well with the mood. Has a 'Demetri Martiny' feel to it... and i mean that as a compliment.
Great mood and art style
Definitely conveys loneliness and despair.
I wish sometimes load between 1 thing and the next were slightly faster though.
I love the interludes where you just stand there. And the style is amazing! Great job!
Funny, the music sets an excellent mood along with the graphics, I like it
to think.. an indie game dev brings a grown man like myself to tears...
I was kind of shocked to see my LD entry on the PC in the desert.
my favourite entry so far. taking a break for now, but i'm hoping i'll survive the desert by the end of the night.
The pacing, the music, the dark humor - it all works together to produce something immensely likeable. Thoroughly enjoyed it, many times.
nice work on the music and artwork, I only wish it progressed a bit faster!
This is weird, but in absolutely fascinating way. I love this. One of my favourites so far.
Thanks for pointing me to your entry! I like the mix of "I hate the world" and bizarre scenes (even though I think you could have pushed further to the later).
The slow transition scenes were a pain, though. Maybe after 5 steps or so you could give the player the option to press some key to skip the transition? The delay makes your game a bit hard to replay.
Whoop I hadn't commented on this!
It is one of my faves of the ludum dare for the theme and mood ! Also the audio and visual style are both super.
Based on the screen shots, I did not expect to like this nearly as much as I did! You have a great combination going on here with the music and the gritty imagery, along with the fascinatingly bizarre scenery. I only wish I had more time to wander the desert and map it out.
Damn! Succumbed to capitalism again :)
Nude Guy will haunt my naps for many days to come...
Nice one! Really loved it. Easily my favorite experience this Ludum dare. (Though the gameplay is pretty simple certainly)

Okay I laughed pretty hard at this! The music and graphics do an amazing job of conveying a mood and when you get into the later humorous screens they work better because the initial serious mood is undercut so heavily. I like how the graphics feel like they work whether you choose to interpret them as examples of that particular kind of lo-fi adventure game art or a send-up of that same art style.
I got a bit frustrated on my first playthrough or so because I could not tell if the things I was clicking on were making any difference. The interface was erratic enough that I thought for a moment the progression from screen to screen was random and/or the NESW clicks were being disregarded.
