    Good game! The graphics are very cute, they're probably my favourite part. The interesting creatures kept me going, but it would be interesting if there was some more variety- I'm not sure in what form, but some threat would be interesting. The sea didn't feel very lonely because I was constantly creating new friends, though. But I get the idea of alleviating loneliness by creating friends. The audio was nice and relaxing, but I think the hitboxes on the dots should be bigger- it was sometimes frustrating eating them.

    Yes, I agree with all of that. I wanted the sea to be more sparsely populated to make it feel more lonely, but I was worried it would be too boring—especially considering most people would only play for a couple minutes at most.

    If I continue to work on this I'd like to add more variety in the the creatures and in the background graphics. I think it would be a lot more fun to explore if there were different areas and things you could discover.

    I should have done more user testing with the collision detection. For me it is challenging, but not frustrating. But I played the games many many times while developing, so I should have accounted for the fact that new players would be far less experienced...

    I got used to the collision, I think it's fine. All I would really add is for the species to have behaviour. And for there to be some kind of logic behind why certain colours create certain species.

    I really like the aesthetic, the music and the visuals really work well together. And explaining the controls, the game name and the creator in the background is genius. It also created a sense of depth in the water.

    After playing for a while, I kind of wanted some form of closure, some kind of end. But maybe that is a result of conditioning from years of playing more conventional games.

    I really enjoyed it. And I think you should be commended for how complete the game feels.

    Next time I will keep in mind this game as an example of design clarity.

    Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it.

    I agree about the lack of ending. I really like the _idea_ of having it open ended like that, but the current implementation is definitely missing something. I think maybe having more variety in the creatures and the backgrounds might help you to feel like you are least making progress, even if there is still no ending.

    As everyone else says, great game, I sure hope to be able to make somthing like this in 48h!
    To me the collision is fine, otherwise it won't be really a challenge, that is easly overcomed with patient.
    In fact, i thougth that, if some of the creatures started to eat the food, the game will be more difficult as you make spawn more creatures... so alone with all the food for you, or with company but sharing the food?

    Wow, I love it! This game hits all the right buttons with me. I love games where you create things, and this gives a whole new idea to the genre! The sounds and graphics work really well together, and even the strange controls relate to the "strangeness" of the game :-)

    Here are some suggestions for an even cooler game:
    1- Scroll wheel on the mouse for zooming out: I want to see all the creatures I've made spread over the sea!
    2- Interaction among the creatures
    3- Maybe some colors of nutrients are produced by certain creatures? So the sea begins with, say, yellow and blue nutrients, and one of the creatures (say, blue blue yellow) drops green nutrients. Not sure if that is the direction you see for this game, but that would be nice.

    4- A "screensaver mode" where the computer plays alone without sound :-) I wouldn't mind watching this game play by itself while doing something else.

    Thanks caranha, I really like your idea #3. I think that would give more of a feeling of purpose to what you are doing.

    I'm not sure you'd like to look at a screensaver version for very long. I started feeling seasick at the end of day 2 of development from staring at the swirling motion for so long. :)

    Pretty much just a webtoy, and not a very interesting one at that. I liked the graphics, but the controls were frustrating and there was nothing to the gameplay other than "get all the patterns of colors". I wanted something else there.

    Excellent presentation and an interesting idea! It was kind of frustrating to try to catch a specific nutrient that you wanted to get, but I appreciate the different control mechanism. I like "constantly swimming in circles monster," as I have named it.
