Hmm, if this game was designed to work with flying both ships at once it could have been interesting, but it doesn't seem that way and comes out kind of generic, also does not fit the theme unfortunatley.
It has repetitive, simple enemies, a non-functioning health system, and a core gameplay mechanic directly contrary to the theme.
Well, it is pretty unfinished indeed, but I like the idea. One bug: when one of the players dies (no hearts or lives) - his ship still stay on the playing area, but without accepting commands.
One suggestion: on these kinds of competitive 2P games, you should add some ways for one player to get in the other's way - like sending enemies to the opponent's playing area, etc.
On the plus side, it did run in windows. This is more of a demo than a game, no sound, no instructions, no win condition etc. I couldn't even figure out how to make the red ship fire.
Not really sure how it fits the theme... possibly because each ship is 'alone' in its part of the screen? What are passing hearts supposed to do?
Some nice sprites.

This is just a generic vertical scrolling shooter with difficult and repetitive enemies. It doesn't even match the theme, since you are fighting alongside another ship! There was no audio, and nothing involving mood whatsoever.
