Loneliness

by GFM - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Guide your little (kitty?) friend through a lonely place. Help him gather other and became less lonely. Also, see the world gain more colors as you gather... those... colorfull balls. xD

As you becomes (more or) less lonely, your sprite change to represent that. A blue sprite means lots of loneliness. A green kitty means you aren't alone, but can get less lonely. A green dog means that you aren't alone at all. Also, it enables shooting (I missed the sprite on the main menu to explain that... my bad).

You get points by:
-not being lonely: your "points over time" grows as you get less lonely.
-killing the bad guys.

So far, the known bugs are:
- everything spawns only in the top left corner.
- difficulty is totally unbalanced
- loneliness bar doesn't quite works as expected*
- you doesn't need to get balls to become less lonely

I shouldn't have slacked off so much. >_<
Because of that, there're lots of bugs, there's no bgm during the game... only in the tile...

*Initially, I imagined the bar fixed in the top-left, only with the right side moving (expanding/retracting).


@OFF: I know that I suck at explaining... but I just noticed that I suck even more at explaining in english. xD


[EDIT 01/05]I'm moving the compo version of my entry to dropbox so I can update de kongregate version. I was going to wait until judgind ends... but I can't help but really want to update the game. >_<
Next time I'll just upload it to dropbox from the start...[/EDIT]

The general idea is great, but the gameplay is bit harsh : all mobs tend to stay in upper left corner and everything is going too fast from the very beginning.

And I'll take that into account. (also, I'll remember that the "random" function never work as it should xD)

Wait.. so how can you shoot? :D I couldn't figure the shooting out.

Basic game idea is good, but it does get bloody hard very quickly. And yea, everything happens in the top left corner :D

Polish it up and this could be a fun game!!

It seems that the center of the screen (horizontally) is meant to be the middle of that loneliness bar at the top. It doesn't really feel like they're "in the top left" if you know what I mean. It feels more like the camera is just too far to the right. Otherwise I share the same views as deepnight. It's an interesting idea that could have made an addictive game if everything had been tweaked right and fixed.

I think I'll add an explanation on the entry... so somethings make more sense. xD

I thought the controls were really weird. Having your character slow down as you get closer to the mouse made for some really weird movements when I try to get away from the mobs clustered in the top left. Other comments I agree with too...the game is pretty unplayable right now.

The spawning makes the game kind of hard to play. There are times when you start the game and you are alredy dead. But other then that it is kind of fun to play.

Nice idea, of course could be expanded on and balanced a bit as avoiding the cats is pretty hard at first. As well as a faster tutorial where I can scroll through at my pace in some regards.

Interesting, but could use some balancing, etc. It's hard to get the balls away from the cats and not get murdered very quickly when everything just spawns so close together in such a cluster.

I found it was a little awkward to use the same input for aiming as moving. Though I suppose it does make sense that you can only shoot towards where you're moving, given the effects of your shots.

After playing around in the instructions level I really liked the way the colour balls swirled around you as you moved.

Seems you got a decent amount done. I found the gameplay quite hard, but I think there is a good game in here. Well done completing the game!

Actually, the one on kongregate (where I had originaly hosted the compo version) was updated...
I forgot to add the link here. >_<

The game is still a bit difficult... Enemies can still spawn over you (causing almost a sudden death >_<)... But I'm quite happy with that version. =D
