by Jacic - 48 Hour Compo Entry

You are a cat. You shoot aliens. You ALONE can stop them.

Simple, no?

Controls are:

Left/Right/A/D - move
Space/Z - shoot

This game's difficulty is based on the score. Doing well will increase the difficulty, whereas not doing well won't increase it much at all.

There is a kind of risks/rewards system for putting yourself in front of an enemy. They shoot randomly, so you have to keep that in mind to do well.

Two kittens are in this game. One obvious, another...maybe not so obvious.

Kinda lacking in... everything.

The game screen didn't fit on my netbook's screen. I think it might have if it wasn't in a browser.

Cat meets space impact!
It's realy simple, but it's a 48h entry and it's playable, so in my opinion this is ok! =) I noticed that you got a nice journal!
Good job

Simple gameplay makes this game very playable, and increasing the difficulty according to player's score is a brilliant idea for a game which is meant to be played for 5-10 mins and works really well. Lack of music doesn't feel that out of place - it's outer space after all. Graphics are quite fine and sound effects work nicely with game's retro style. IMHO it's an awesome entry.

Make A Game: Thank you!

marudziik: Thanks a ton! But in space, you wouldn't hear the explosions or firing sounds either ;)

A standard space shooter. I've never been a big fan of those so I don't have so much to say. The graphics was decent, not horrible but not fantastic either. The sound effects fits with the theme. It would've been nice with some music. It may be in space, but some heavy metal in the sound system is a must for every spacetraveler! (cat or not)

overall good, missed a golden opportunity to start with 9 lives though.

Basic, but still fun to play for a while. The game screen didn't fit on my screen correctly so the high score, score, and life counters were cut off, which ruined the game a little.

Good entry! Kittens give you bonus points :P ! Not an innovative game, but fun to play (the game flickers for me though, but the game is still playable). Music would have given the game more mood, but the sound effects are enough for an LD game ! Good job: you've got a good journal too !

For a 48-hour game, this is pretty good. The sound effects add a lot even though the shooting sound gets annoying after a while. The gameplay is basic and would have been improved with some power-ups or some additional tension (a timer until the next cat-boss, for example). However, given the time, I was impressed at how many different ships you were able to put in.

Raptor85: Oh, that would've been a great idea! Thanks, maybe a powerup will make it happen. ;)

wgemigh: There actually are powerups, they are just really rare and so don't appear often.

A pretty straight forward shooter, there is a lot of room for improvement in all areas.
