Lonely Island

by Awesomeclaw - Jam Entry

A game where you must survive on a desert island long enough to be rescued. Balance your limited food (provided by coconuts) with wood used for your signal fire: burn too much too fast and you might starve to death!

Incidentally this game was made with a rather stricter time constraint than 72 hours - I started from scratch around 4 hours before the Jam deadline. So, it might not be as polished (or fun) as other Jam entries but I'm still pretty pleased with what I got done.

Left and Right arrow keys: Move
Mouse: Interact

Clicking a coconut tree while it has coconuts will eat the coconuts. Clicking a coconut tree while it has no coconuts will cut it down. Win by building your fire big enough to attract a rescue ship!

Made with XNA 4.0. Please make sure you have the XNA 4.0 Runtime installed (

Cool idea, wish you would've had more time to develop it, but nice work for 4 hours!

I keep getting an error message whenever I try to run it, is that just my computer? It's a shame because this game looks fun!

1st: I just downloaded it becouse this is the 1st in one sitting. Normally I would never click it if I see megaupload or something similar with waiting and pop-up windows with forced sound video.
2nd: It's not starts and not even shows any error message.

Conclusion I hate you wasting my time...

I win...

Next time please DON'T use megaupload, especially for something which has 60 kbytes. Also information that you're using XNA would help some people to at least know why it's not working.

Sorry about the problems people seem to be having. If you could post any error messages you receive that would be helpful.
Megaupload (and similar services) aren't my first choice of file hosting but unfortunately I don't currently have access to anything better.

It's a nice idea but it needs a little more depth.

You could set it up so the hunger bar reduced slower and the player had to balance between eating from the fish population and the coconut population while being careful not to wipe either out.

A potentially good concept, but not much implemented and lacks a lot of polish. Few bugs, very simple graphics and no sfx/music don't really set the mood even though this fits the casual interpretation of the theme.

I had the XNA Runtime installed but I'm still unable to run the game :S
