December 16th-19th 2011 :: Theme: Alone
This is my third game in Ludum Dare. I tried my best so far in this one spending soooo much time to get it done. I agreed that I would do a physics game for this Ludum because everyone loves physics. The only hard part was fitting the theme into it which I got an idea for. It took me a lot of resources to make this game so I will list them here:
-Photoshop (Huge help)
-Mixcraft (My Audio from guitar and synth)
-Audacity (Lowering or sound files)
-FlashDevelop (The program for flash 'Duh')
-FlashPunk Classes
-Box2d physics
-Probably more that I cant think of right now
Audio: Created by mixcraft mainly. The sounds were either recorded from my guitar or a composition of notes in mixcraft
Graphics: I basically used vectors and textures in PS for the graphics. This took a good portion of the time I had. The trash can especially took the longest because of 2 layers
Theme: I came up with a story line sort of for the whole game. I said that you were a kid growing up with your family and your family is leaving for a Christmas party and you dont wanna go. So you stay home and you cant find anything to do. Eventually you find a bouncy ball and start playing with it and that is what the game is based off of. It continues through the different levels
GamePlay:
The concept of the game is to do teh objective of the level, which is usually to knock down all of the blocks or get the ball into the trash can. But there is variation involved in the later levels
-Walls
-Red Blocks
-Gravity
-Stars
-Limited bounces
-Much more!
Good luck to everyone participating in Ludum Dare 22!!

Interesting game, and kinda fun. The idea is interesting but a little buggy. The ball's bouncing sometimes looked incorrect, and after aiming, the ball was shot from a position lower than displayed during the aiming. I stopped after losing on the same level almost 10 times. The checkpoint thing was not a good idea, as the level I was failing in (with 3 red blocks that i shouldn't drop) was not a checkpoint level, so had to play the previous one every time
The music was good and didn't get annoying during the game
There is this exploit that is to drag the line to the left side of the white line... kinda sucks the fun of it...
But apart from it, real nice game
Great music
add sounds to impact
ball in basket bounced out a lot, maybe add some trash in the basket so that it doesnt bounce out so easily!
Enjoyed
A pretty clever idea, but the combination of physics bugs and having to start over whenever I failed a level stopped me from playing it for more than a few minutes.
Thanks everyone, I thought you could restart the level tho if you lost the same one
Although the game is interesting and fairly well made, the connection with the theme is *very* weak; almost non-existent.
I might even go one step beyond the comment above and say that there's no connection to the theme at all - the story is pretty lame. But that doesn't bother me that much - the game is pretty playable and interesting. And yes, everybody loves physics! ;)
One serious gripe I might have is the lack of journal entries - I'd love to see some thoughts on making Box2d and flashpunk work together and stuff.
You're right, everyone loves physics ^-^!
I had a good time playing this game and then fooling around with the editor, which I think adds a lot value to the game. However I agree with summaky, the relation to the theme is very faint. Nevertheless you did a very good job with the carefull level design, I bet you had lots of fun playing your own game!
I also found the music catchy without being annoying.
nice physics sim.
I'm playing on an old machine and I found that if I throw the ball fast enough it will pass through the closest block then slow down enough to hit the next one.
I thought it was kind of well executed although the physics were buggy. On more than one occasion I shot the ball through one of the blocks, and often it would fire well below the trajectory I gave for a shot. My only real problem though is that I am not good at these physics games and so don't really like them, sorry!
zairon: Same here!
Also it could've used sound effects maybe when the ball hit something!

That was fun. Loved playing in the editor.
