by joekinley - 48 Hour Compo Entry

This is an interactive story of a poor little student who has no friends.
Controls are Cursor keys or WASD only. Just wander around and check out everything to dive deeper into the story.

Takes only around 10 minutes to finish game, 5 minutes if you know the route or if you are quick.

Bonus: There even is a kitten in the game somewhere.

The weird lava overlay is a bit annoying..
I walked around for a while and everyone told me to leave them alone.
So I decided to do that. A few minutes was all I could tolerate.

Because people seem to have major problems getting on with the story, here is a quick walkthrough to get to the ending:

- Go to the table with the colored couple (opposite of the table)
- As toilet opens, go to the balloon
- As new entry to the top right opens, go to the kitten (;))
- Go outside to the colored couple
- Go into the school and in the next room to the trash can in the middle
- Go further into the school, then to the left to the colored couple
- Go inside to the bottom left, to the colored couple
- Go to the right and top, to the colored couple
- As the door opens, follow that path and go to the bottom left of the huge room (the crowd)
- Now go to the right, to the newly opened area, and go up
- Here go up the stairs and outside the opening

If you do that, you finish that game in about 5 minutes =)

Yes, the overlay is really annoying. I made it to the end, but it was hard to understand why talking to people or popping a balloon would unlock a door. Good use of the theme.

So, I couldn't progress after getting the kitten, and I looked at joekinley's guide, but after getting the kitten, the colored couple disappears. Am I missing something or is this a bug or what?

Oh, nevermind I just figured it out.
Lava overlay made it really hard to tell there was a passage on the wall to the left.

Depressed now... ;o) Good work.

Flaws in the design hinder the story. It's a good idea for a plot, sure, but it could really use some polish to make it awesome. :/

Nice atmosphere and music. Game-wise I had no idea what was going on, but I'm impressed with the mood you established.

Thanks for the entry, it was a very interesting story, and the pace was not bad. It was good enough to play a second time once you know what is going on.

There were some graphical glitches - sometimes the bottom of Edward's sprite would overlap the top of a wall tile.

Also, I found the "grid" overlay to be annoying.

I needed your instructions to finish it, but I enjoyed a lot. The problem is that after the bathroom, everything looks alike, so it's very difficult to remember where we have been and where we haven't.
Nice story and nice and weird graphical effects.

Depressing game, good use ot the theme. I really liked the music and the dark plot though I needed your guid to get past the kitten. The overlay graphic makes my eyes bleed though!
