Dungeon Dan

by moltanem2000 - Jam Entry

I was skiing all weekend so this is what I managed to cook up despite the fact! there's only one level but everything should work fine. Spent quite a bit of time making the song rather than adding more levels. This is effectively a remake of my LD16 attempt: tower quest. I wanted to explore the grid-based and non-grid-based interactions a bit more. Since I only had about 5-6 hours to work on this I didn't very many levels in (only 1!) and the theme isn't very present. Other than the fact that Dan is alone in this dungeon. Hopefully it's well polished though and doesn't have any major bugs.

Being away all weekend with limited computer time as well as no internet means I couldn't exactly be community active either. So I don't expect to do too well ratings wise, but w/e I had a ton of fun making this small sample and a ton of fun with the music (oh and a ton of fun skiing too).

EDIT: Big thanks to SpaceManiac for hosting the game on his servers for you to download

Very fun game! Really wished you would've had more time to make levels.

[10:56:49 PM] Kerma: Dungeon Dan represents a child growing up into adulthood. You start off the game dark and unknowing, going carelessly into the rooms ahead of you, maybe even getting hurt back a bit. The queit noise guides you further, much like parents or advisors. You find yourself lost and confused until you find the switch and the knowledge to allow you to progress past the powerful obstacle that has punished you many times before. After progressing past the obstacle you find that you have fully matured as an individual and you can wander around in your childhood a bit more but end up progressing down the stairs where future adventures wait, and eventually death which is symbolized by the game closing. 5/5

Awesome job Brandon. Keep working on this. If you haven't, you should get the HTML5 version of GameMaker and get it running in browser, and on an Android ;)
