It's a nice idea, theme-wise. It's pretty fun, despite it's simple gameplay, but it's really short (although pretty much all Ludum Dare games suffer from that). You can replay it, but it gets boring after a few tries. It could really have used difficulty settings and whatnot, for a bigger challenge.
The graphics, being 3D and animated, were obviously pretty elaborate for a 48-hour competition. The Audio was pretty satisfactory. Good work, overall.
The theme and execution are quite unique. The only other time anything came close to this was in Spliter cell 2 :-)
Very original idea for the escape theme. Good looking game too. If only there were more scenarios! Great thinking though, definitely one of the more original games I've seen. Just needs more scenarios and gameplay devices.
Great idea, but slightly disappointing minigames. Excellent presentation though, very polished!
Hah! I had fun. Loved the intros and outros. I'd have benefited from a way to review the instructions; both times I forgot what I was supposed to be doing due to poor reading comprehension.
Thank you everyone for the feedback thus far! I completely agree that a dozen more escape tricks would make this at least 11 times better, and by the time the deadline loomed I knew that, at best, the result would be more a demo of a much larger game.
Oh, and if you do miss the instructions ESCAPE during an Illusion attempt will pause and bring them back ;) Cheers!
I'm an amateur magician and I adored this. I'd atually love to see this develop into a fully fledged "magic act" game. Link those rings, pull that rabbit from the hat, saw that woman. This fits the theme of the competition though and was fun as heck.
I loved the reprise of the handcuffs after getting the jacket off... I was all "YAY! I'm DONE... oh shiiii..." and panic set in.
Fun game, and with a bit of love and polish could be a great game!
I really liked how balanced the game was. For both illusions, I felt the pressure as the clock ticked and I tried to escape, but neither were too easy nor too difficult. Great work!
I love this game idea, and I concur - more more more! And then, please, let the magician explain his tricks! ;-)
