Wow. Well that was a whole load of fun. It's finally finished.
"To Hell And Back" is a classic LucasArts-style point and click graphic adventure. Featuring the hero Ragnar, who finds himself unexpectedly somewhere he'd quite like to escape from.
Can you solve the fiendish adventure and ESCAPE BACK TO THE REAL WORLD?
I wrote the whole thing from scratch just for this, including a SCUMM-style adventure engine. I'm actually fairly happy with that; you could almost write a production-quality game in it, if you didn't mind it not supporting save games.
I decided to take advantage of the server downtime to polish it up a little, tweaking some of the dialogue. (hopefully that doesn't count against the 48hr limit) :-/
I'd originally planned for it to be about 2-3 times bigger than it is, but this was my first time writing adventures, and it turns out it's way more time consuming than you'd think.
Windows only, source included.

This. Was. Great!
I really loved this game, it had that old Point'n'Click Adventure vibe all over it! It was fun to play and very funny!
Great job, I hope you'll make a longer Adventure game someday! :) 5*
Fun little game. hard to really enjoy the dialogue with the slow auto-scroll though. I would have really liked clicking to advance the dialogue. Also a "smart" right mouse as seen in later adventure games would be nice as well (such as right clicking on the door defaults to "Use"
Allright, out of few dozens LD entries I've rated you've got the biggest overall score :) Mixing "final fantasy" characters style with SCUMM adventure, adding enough fun and coding it all in 48 hours, respect. There's only one thing I disliked and that's the speed of the dialogue, it's very annoying for me (as a speed reader) to be unable to skip to the next line.
But really excellent, one of the very few entries I've passed link to my friends. I even decided to forgive you for abusing the time extension which was supposed to be only as a safeguard for upload problems - you're not the only one, but you're first I rated even if you did it.
Wow, thanks guys! :-)
I didn't expect such a positive response to it.
Monkey Island reference? Hell yeah! :D Awesome entry, liked this one very much.
Yeah, I'd also like to advance the dialogue by left-clicking since I'm a fast reader.
But that's just nitpicking, it's quite impressive for a 48 hour game.
I finished it and I really, really loved it. One of this LD48 entries.
The only nuisance I found is that I can't skip the text. I didn't really know what to do to pick up the fire (it was obvious but somehow I thought I needed some object or something) So I had to speak again and again with the hell demon.
The humor and references in the dialogues are also a very nice touch.
I also took a look to your source. I find it amazing that you had the time to write the SCUMM-like system and managed to produce such assets.
My self-esteem is going to require that I cry foul and say that you couldn't have done this in 48 hours. :)
Very nice job. I got stuck on the three-headed dog. After grabbing six leg bones from the dead adventurer, I still couldn't get past.
Very solid entry. One of the best I've played this time around.
Best LD48 game I've ever played. Gave you 5 stars on everything except audio. It's kinda repetitive and annoying :)
Heh, yeah the audio was a real rush-job. It doth indeed suck a bit. Still, better than nothing.
Pretty awesome that someone would find time to make a point and click adventure game in 48 hours. Though I really missed being able to skip text with a mouse click...

Small update: Fixed a couple of minor bugs which could prevent you completing the game.
