(For Android) GetThatFellowOut

by SharkApple - 48 Hour Competition Entry

Game Name: "Get That Fellow Out! "

Genre: Homage to the NES Battletoads speeder bike level

Platform: Android 2.2, confirmed working on Evo 4g, Nexus S, Droid 1 (playable with drawing issues on Honeycomb)

Source and APK

Sorry for the lack of sound, years of working at big companies left my actual coding skills atrophied and weak, so I wasted Friday and Saturday goofing around and making a worthless class design, then it took a surprisingly long time to write functional OpenGL code.. :*)

Hey guys, I'll try to round up an assortment of Android phones/tablets and port the game to them this week

It was playable on my galaxy tab 10.1, but it had some graphical issues

PS: This should work on any phone running 2.2 (FroYo) with an 800x480 pixel screen or higher, so Nexus 1, evo, thunderbolt, galaxy s, etc will probably handle it gracefully

If you give it a shot and it explodes on you please drop me a line,

Works on my moto droid! Game itself is rather simplistic, but it was a fun diversion while it lasted.

Don't have a smartphone, but it's great that you made a droid game for this competition. I can't vote on it but I'll put this comment here so the system knows to give me more to vote on!

same here, no android phone unfortunately :P. could you create a gameplay video and post it on youtube or something? at least that way we can see the game

I couldn't get this to install on my EVO4G. I dropped it onto my SD card and tried to run it with EasyInstall like I usually do but it wasn't recognized. So sad :(

Confirmed NOT working on my crappy Motorola Backflip. I kind of expected that; the phone is shite. Wish I could play!

Sorry about the lack of desktop compatibility, everyone! Next time I'll try and plan ahead to make a desktop version, or at least come up with a way to record a decent quality gameplay video

It must be pretty frustrating if you're going for the "Play & Rate All Games" achievement but this is standing in the way :*(

I don't suppose there's an Android simulator somewhere we could get?

Hmm, well I did get the emulator set up, but then discovered that the emulator is crazy slow and I keep losing without figuring out what the controls are. I'm going to have to rate you on just community.

Unfortunately my smart phone (Geeksphone) has a screen too small and I can only see a part of the screen...

Well, this is the game that's been the most hassle to work out how to install... but I suppose I learned a bit about my HTC Desire in the process, so it's all good.

The game works, the level of challenge is pitched okay (took me a couple of tries), and it ran fine (for me). Not really much to do, though, and you lock out a lot of people by making a game for a platform that not everyone has (and can't be emulated properly).
