Esc. the Robot

by dray - 48 Hour Competition Entry

Hey everyone, so here is my First LD entry, i plan to had so much more to it... the first day go pretty well but i lost myself in tweaking and not necessary stuff. BUT, I'm proud of this game as the first one i made myself and found it buggy but fun, I Hope you will enjoy it and have fun !
Note : I tried to make a progression on difficulty but the 3rd one is quite difficult but doable really quickly if you are good at Jumping.

This is a quite good basis for a puzzler/platformer, although in need of some balancing and polish. The background is also quite nice :-)

Good controls, although the perspective makes it a little tough to tell where you're jumping sometimes. Fun!

Biggest gripe is that the level doesn't auto restart. Pretty good platformer and game though.

I know :/ actually you have 2 ways to restart : if you fall you reappear on the StartPoint( the idea was to put checkpoint in the level). Clicking the Restart level at the top-left corner. I think to upgrade the game after the comp, making easy to restart is on the list.

Nice graphics, the controls feel a little bit weird by moments (you can jump in the air after stepping on a red block, I'm not sure if that's wanted of not), and most of all the perspective makes it very difficult to tell if the next piece is below you or just further away on the same level.

Anyways a simple idea nicely implemented (and I really like the robot model!), I'm not seeing a lot of potential right now, but maybe with a bit of polish, who knows.

Keep the good work!

Thanks to the 3d perspective it can be extremely hard to guess where are you going to end. I've played few levels (good progression of the difficulty), but having to do a lot of attempts to find possible way and jumping in confusing 3d became too frustrating.
Good for your first attempt, maybe next time you'll do better.

BTW for some reason web version hangs my browser (Chrome), all other Unity based games I've tried worked without problems.

Really struggled to gauge my landings due to the angle of perspective. A more defined landing shadow would have helped quite a bit here. Easy restart would have helped a lot to ease frustration too. Otherwise a strong entry into the compo - good luck!

Graphics were very nice. Would have been better with sound and music. Game play was alright; it was sometimes difficult to gauge where I was.

Solid entry!
