Saharan Scurry

by Tubbimora - 48 Hour Competition Entry

Saharan Scurry
Created by Oliver "Tubbimora" Tun

The Army are after you!
Escape from the Army by driving away in the conveniently placed jeep you found in the middle of the Saharan Desert!
Freedom is 10000m away!
But be careful, you'll have to drive through the emergency minefield placed by the Army and avoid the tanks chasing you!

Good luck!

Author's Notes
My first ever entry into Ludum Dare and one of my first ever completed games! Hooray! Entering this competition was a great experience to have and let me actually know what it was like working under a deadline. I had to cut a lot of ideas and fancy things from the final product in order to make it a functioning game, but I'm happy how it turned out even though there isn't much to it. I will most likely enter when the next LD comes around and hopefully be more experienced so I can create something more complex. Thanks to everyone who kept me going and Ludum Dare for an awesome 48 hours.

I wish bullets would kill tanks for extra awesome points :)

Oh wow, I never thought of doing that ._. That's a pretty awesome idea as well.
If I decide to do more work on this game I definitely will :D

Not working here for me. Here's what happens when I launch the exe :

I'm using Windows 7 SP1.

Decent game. Simple yet challenging.

Those tanks sure are dumb! They step on mines (but don't blow up). And they're supposed to chase me but they go right past me while I wave at them and smile.

@agersant: You most likely don't have XNA 4.0 installed. You can get it here:

Nice and simple game, didn't get very far but it could use some more variety :). Good job on your first completed LD and wish to see more in the future !

I couldn' think of a way I could make the tanks smarter in the current context of the game, but I'm currently changing it to be more action oriented so you can fight back against the tanks.

I decided to continue working on this game and I'm currently adding more variety :D (e.g. I added what Rudy suggested above)

Thanks for your comments and criticism guys, much appreciated :)

I can't play it because it says I don't have a device compatible with "HiDef" profile.

Very straightforward game, not bad.
But it's a little bit too hard - would be nice if the tanks wouldn't make so many damage, or at least give us some medpacks.
