sorry, I didn't realize you had to put the "http://" in, so the links didn't show up :/ Fixed!
(That'll teach me to upload without checking late at night!)
Innovation: This genre is done quite a bit, and I didn't see anything new.
Theme: The theme wasn't really explained in-game. The theme explanation felt like an excuse to fit the game after making what you wanted to.
Graphics: Things resembled what they were meant to be, which is good. I'm not sure if I quite liked the cursor sprite or the wall sprite, which didn't fit in with the rest of the art style.
Audio: The music was 8 looping measures, which could definitely be expanded into something worthwhile. The sounds themselves were okay, but a little uninteresting.
Fun: I was a bit irritated by the level design, mostly because the rooms just seemed to cut off right at the borders, which looked a little odd. The level design also did some weird things that ended in awkward maneuvers to shoot at enemies. The boss' hitbox is, well, a box, and you can get hurt while walljumping on the above platforms. Also, you never explained that you can walljump.
Overall: I don't want to be rude, but this game needs work in all departments before I consider it worthwhile. I can see the effort, but I don't know just how well it turned out in the end. Maybe use this advice to make a better game next Ludum Dare, or practice on your own time! You can only improve from here.
I won with 830 and took about 10 minutes.
I found the walljump to be a bit too hard to use with a keyboard. I always fell from really frustrating places and it didn't feel fair.
Nice music and art though; it all fits the same theme.
There is nothing about escaping in this game, though. :P
Not really an 'escape' game, as such? I like the multi-screen mechanism, but found the controls and some of the level design to be a bit infuriating (took me ages to realise you can double-jump, and I couldn't get it to work every time!). Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the boss, but I kept playing for a good while to try and get there.
Although the game didn't exactly fit the theme, the graphics were pretty bland, the music, albeit cool, got annoying after a couple minutes, and having nothing really new or innovative, I really enjoyed the game, even more after I discovered I could wall jump.
I liked this game! It kept me interested enough to play through the whole thing, which is more than I can say for most other entries!
Gameplay was extremely smooth and very accurate. I just couldn't master the wall-jumping (mouse or keyboard), so I never got past the lava room. Most of the jumps are extremely unforgiving -- very little room for error. Also, didn't like rooms where I simply couldn't go back (falling from the ceiling for example). Would have liked to be able to explore around.
Good game. It doesn't have much to do with the theme, but it's a fun little platformer. The level design was ok, maybe it could've had a bit more exploration.
I ended up winning with a score of 870.
