In Chains

In Chains is a 2D platformer. I created it using OpenGL, GLEW, SOIL, and OpenAL-Soft. The game is very short, and the ending isn't much, but I hope you enjoy at least the little bits that are there.

Loved your artstyle, the writing on the wall in room 1 is a nice touch :)

Also nice use of quicktime events in a platformer, don't know that I've ever seen that done before.

Nice little platformer. :) The event-based dodging was clever! I escaped only to find that the air before me had become an invisible solid.....

Sorry, I never quite finished the ending, I just kind of put that image there and added a wall.

yes, the art is great, but due to weird bug I couldnt even get the key to unlock the door in level 1 (it was teleporting me over entire platform, and I couldnt get close to key no matter what)

Makc, that could have something to do with the game being synced to framerate instead of time. Unfortunately I can't change it now...

Great entry. Reminded me of a childhood full of Atari 2600 games. Yeah, I'm old. :(

I liked the special keys to get past the traps.

Two problems. The game ran very slowly, and it threw an error when I tried to exit.

Nice entry. I've played long enough to find a bug: when I get as far as the next gate, I can go back and die, then press right - I'll start from the next checkpoint, even if I didn't get the key. :) I can also jump over spikes with no consequence (this could actually be a feature).
Event-based escaping from traps seems very innovative. Great look and feel.

It should be obvious now that I really liked the game. :)

Great visuals :) I guess I am dumb though, I got stuck at one of the first jumps.

The player moves way too fast for me to do any thing. I can't even climb the ladder because I can't move to the correct spot.
