Escape from Leong Mansion

Phew, it's been a long weekend. I hope this entry kicks some interest for you guys, enjoy it! Special Thanks goes to Erron Flaherty for teaching me how to code more fluently for this contest, thanks man!

--'ZOUNDS! The great Master Thief and Dashing Rogue, Blue Midnight, has been back-stabbed! Betrayed by an old colleague of his, he has been thrown into one of the Dungeon Cells and will be sold off to the French Authorities if he can not escape in time! Will our cunning Italian Gentleman Thief escape in time, or will he succumb to this challenge? It's up to you to find the pieces of the Treasure Map, gather up Food for stowing away and commodities to sell off for capital to finance the Expedition!

Very nice graphics and music! The dialogue was a bit hard to read due to the background being so bright. Also I had serious problems with the movement; it was very slow and slidey, and combined with a curiously high jump made dodging traps a chore. Really nice overall.

Graphics and music were excellent, and it had a nice retro feel. However, the controls were just really fiddly at times, and it could be a bit frustrating. With some work and polish, it could be great.

Thanks for the comments guys. Remember, if you Hold down X you move faster, this should help for those difficult jumps that you've been experiencing.

Updated the file, there was some kind of compression error that resulted in a part of the map crashing, nothing to do with the actual game content itself but I must have messed up the zip somehow. Should be fixed now (was making the game un-winnable).

some of the best graphics i've seen in the competition! great stuff. i agree with the earlier comment about the dialogue being hard to read though, some tweaks for later i guess!

Very good gfx (just the intro text really blended into background and was hard to read) and excellent audio. This is definitely one of the better platformers entered into compo this, although I gave up after a while.

Very cool. There do seem to be some buggy areas. I got stuck in an area where the obvious way to proceed wouldn't work (you'd immediately die by a trap you couldn't see from the previous room).

The music is great and so are the graphics. The dying animations are a nice touch, but I saw them too many times as the controls could be improved a little more. Overall, very good game.
