A simple little arcade game made with Flixel. One level, endless.

You have to dance around (cursor keys), flinging your partner (hit space) at other couples. Try to knock them down whilst avoiding being knocked down yourself.
Score combos. And watch out for waiters...

This is very amusing. "Oh no, my interchangeable dance partner is about to get some wine! Stop him!"

This is kinda fun. The idea that your dance partner is your 'enemy' is a bit strange, but hey, I'll bite.

It'd be cool if your movement altered the trajectory of the dancers as well.

yeah, it's pretty loose on the theme.. ah well :)

i'll likely keep working on this, cos i quite like it. there are lots of things i want to add, especially much more varied enemy patterns and AI. and i'll change the graphics from dancers to some kind of weird sea anemones and fish or something.

Love the gameplay here, and the setting. Don't change it to be sea anemones, that would ruin some of the charm!

hehe. cheers guys. Draknek - yeah I do like the silly dancing people, but I also envisage a more beautiful (rather than cute) style... the swirly movement patterns would suit underwater creatures I think. (it looks cool if you play long enough for there to be 10+ couples on screen..sort of hypnotic). if i do that i'll preserve a dancing version too though. MUST ADD CONGA-LINE ENEMY.

GREAT game. The sound effects really make this, I think. It is pretty awesome, the aesthetic fits nicely. I think you should be able to pick up multiple partners, but I've always thought that. :P

another vote for keeping it with people. Maybe add different dance moves as new 'weapons', and possibly the idea that flinging your partner off on the beat being more powerful...

Amusing concept, but I keep dying for some reason and only went up to when there are 3 "enemy" couples on screen. From the comments I gather that there might be something different afterwards... The single life thing is annoying. Doesn't fit the theme at all.

I loved it when I discovered that someone could steal my dance partner! There was surprising variety in that the flying glasses, drunken rages, and flinged partners were all potentially damaging. It was quirky and fun overall!

stqn - yeah, you can die suddenly, and it's sometimes hard to tell what killed you.. could be because of your dance parter rebounding off the side of the screen into you, or glasses flying after knocking down a waiter. I'm planning to make there be more than 1 life when I do more to this - haven't gotten round to it yet.

I think it fits the theme a bit, though admittedly not in a very deep or clever way: you can be both be "killed" by and "kill" with the dance partners.

Not much different stuff happens yet, but I'm still planning on working this more cos I quite like it :) I have a few plans for different enemies and waves and such.

So are the men enemies? What kind of feminist bullcrap is this! Just kidding, the game is pretty fun. It sorely lacks music though. Maybe a nice waltz, or a tango?

Rather challenging, interesting mechanics, and pretty amusing. I liked it. Given the themeing it really desperately needed some music though.

This is great. It reminds me of the way arcades used to be, before everything was spaceships and guns. I say this without irony, knowing that my game prominently features both.

The graphics remind me of the family members in Robotron, so I was half expecting big fullscreen pixel-shatter animations. Actually, I think it could benefit from some of those, but then I think that about everything.

I liked the way the scoring system rewarded hitting more than one couple at a time with extra points. I would have liked to see more complexity there, to reward more interesting play.

It reminds me -- just a bit -- of a C64 game named Stars and Rings, which has a similar mechanic involving spinning an object and releasing it at the right moment. However, I don't recall seeing anything else remotely similar, and I love the mechanic, so full marks for innovation.

I was just slightly confused by the direction the partner took when I flung him. He headed 90 degrees clockwise relative to the direction I expected. I was expecting him to keep moving in the direction he was moving when released, if that makes sense. Instead, it behaves more like the main character pushes him directly away. I don't think this is a big problem. Actually it might even be easier to control as it is, but it was counter-intuitive to me at first.

The sounds are great and I wouldn't change anything that's there. However, given that it's a game about dancing it really ought to have some music.

Unlike the author and some of the other commenters, I think it's a clever and fitting use of the theme.

I had a lot of fun with this. I look forward to seeing an updated version with more different types of dancers. Please don't change it to an underwater theme. I love it as it is, and it would lose some of its charm.
