Theme: Enemies as Weapons
My first time entering the Ludum Dare competition. It was a hard theme for me, but I managed to come up with something. =)
I'm terrible at making background music, so only the title screen has some. Used SFXr and my microphone to make the sound effects though.
You play a little penguin who starts off with a limited number of snowballs (use them wisely!), fending off snow enemies that are invading your little glacier. You can then make snowballs from the remains of defeated enemies to continue fighting and surviving. Harder enemies come out over time and such.
Instructions are in game.

Ugh mediafire
anyway its a cute game with cute sounds, it jumps in difficulty pretty quick and the action controls are a tad odd, but once you get over that, its an amusing game
Cute, cute, cute. The artwork is really perfect. I loved the take on the theme, which just goes to show how much the backstory is important - explaining that you use the enemy AS the weapon makes the difference.
The game got very hard, very quick, and I didn't last long. Solidly done, though, and I liked the sounds too.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.~ Sorry about the jump in difficulty. I rushed the spawns for people to get a chance to see the variety of enemies I made and didn't have much time to balance things. x_x
Nice character sprite, movement feels right, several enemy types
Little tip for parallax scrolling - the further back the layer is, the more slowly it should scroll - your background layers seemed to be moving faster than the foreground, which didn't quite look right
Woops, I was only focused on the front mountains moving faster than the back mountains that I didn't realize they were moving faster than the water and everything else =<
I found myself without snowballs waiting to die, other than that, great game & funny death sound :)
Well done! This is a fun game, a bit hard at first but leaving room for the player to improve. I haven't managed to go past the semi-big snowmen yet; somehow I get three of them at the same time, unlike in your video where it looks much easier!
I like the ability to change ammo into health, which makes for a bit of strategy.
The parallax scrolling is a nice touch :). The instruction screens are good, sound too (though I didn't get to hear it under Wine.) With a cute upbeat music on top of that, it would be great.
I don't think this is really what the theme is supposed to be about, though.
Oh, and maybe there could be a way to gain a snowball ball (by scraping the floor?) when there's none left. And I thought the collision boxes were relatively unforgiving (hard to jump over the semi-big snowmen). And I'd liek to be able to jump with UP.

Nicely done! I liked the enemy creativity, thought it was pretty funny that the sledding snowman cried every time you hit him :P
