Unarmed and Dangerous!

Written for Ludum Dare #18 (Theme: Enemies as Weapons)

Move: Arrow keys (or WASD)/ Note - you can jump 1-tile gaps by moving over them!

Restart Level: Space

Quit: Esc

To complete the level, you need to eliminate all nasty spiky enemies from the level... To do that, you'll have to
make them kill each other!

- If you're missing a D3DX DLL, try downloading it here -
- Requires shader 2.0. May crash unpleasantly if you don't have support!
- Written in C++, D3D, FMOD, and was written with this basecode:
- It's terribly inefficient. Sorry. May set a new world record for number of single-poly draw calls in a frame?
- The 'withoutbloom' .exe should run a bit faster on laptops/slow GPUs, but doesn't look as nice
- Yes, level 5 is possible
- Level 6 should be possible... but I've not done it myself yet(!)
- No, you can't complete level 7. If you get that far, you've won!

I thought the idea was really good, but I found myself struggling with the controls. It's probably my fault, I can never get used to isometric controls, but I almost feel like a top-down view would have made it easier for me to play. As well, the view was small enough that I often didn't know I was jumping right into the way of an enemy, although that was also part of the strategy, so it's sort of a moot point, I suppose.

Couldn't get it to run, unfortunately.

I like the look of the game. For me the game itself was too challenging, i really could not get far. I still liked the idea you had there and everything seemed to work nicely. Great job overall!

Awesome! Got to level 6 before I had to stop for some real-life stuff but I'm loving it so far and will return to it!

Fun game, but I found level 4 to be too big. I'd get reasonably far, but then I'd make a mistake and I'd have to start over from the beginning.

Really nice game. I like the graphical style and the gameplay was quite fun, trying to work out how to get the enemies to collide with each other.

As usual, a brilliant game... :P Hate you, your stuff always looks so much better than mine! :)

Very good game concept but it's frustrating to have to restart from scratch after a mistake. I gave up after losing on time when I thought I had solved level 5. I think the time limit was a really bad idea. I don't want to have to do the same level again at full speed until I manage to get a good run without a stupid mistake to ruin it.

Make it more friendly instead of punishing and it would be great!

Graphics are awesome as usual!

I really liked this, but it gets hard very quick. I stopped at level 6 because it just felt a bit too much for me. The visuals have a nice flare to them, as we've grown used to from your games. I think this could be a real hit if you eased the difficulty curve a bit.

Oh, and I also agree that the isometric controls take some getting used to. Might be nicer to have a head-on perspective

Like playing, good looking, but it was really hard.

Really great fun. I felt that the controls were great as were the visuals. I reached level 5 and then felt that it just became too difficult. Well, I enjoy a challenge but the fact you have to start the level from scratch felt too much as the levels became longer. The gameplay was spot on though and some really interesting level design was present. Good job :)
