Fight Chickens With Chickens

by Sos - Competition Entry

Yay my first ActionScript thingie :)

but, to the point...

Your farm has been overridden by some strange space zombie chickens. Destroy their nests and free your homeland!!!

Since you're just a chick, you cannot attack chicken, so you have to gather eggs which contain them. When you're armed with eggs, you can distract chickens by throwing other chickens at them and steal their nests!!!

You can also destroy chicken that you threw automatically by placing self-destrucion device in them. And it's all done automagically!

So go, and get rid of them chickens with chickens!

Arrows - move
1-6 - select chicken
Z - jump (hold to stick your head to the ceiling)
SPACE - throw chicken
BACKSPACE - kill chickens you threw

EDIT: I just found out that level design makes it impossible to beat the game. You can collect only 12 out of 14 nests, but since nothing happens in the end, i guess it doesn't matter.

I liked this one. The animation of feet spinning in a wheel like that was pretty hilarious. The idea of sticking to ceilings like that was also pretty cool! I almost beat it, but I couldn't get the last two nests (they were the ones up on the top-left).

I love the sticking to ceilings thing! It's a shame it's not completable.

Best title ever. I was a bit confused at first as two why I was killing the chickens, but then I realized I could capture their nests.

Pretty cool idea!

Cool game. The ceiling sticking took a bit of getting used to but it was an interesting way of moving about a level once figured out.

The only frustrating thing about the game was that it was unpredictable which way nearby fighting chickens would move and/or when one would pop out when capturing a nest.

Well, the graphics and sound are nice, but I couldn't figure out how to even get past some of the first obstacles because my character couldn't jump very high.

I loved the sticking to the roof mechanism - i wonder if this feature originated as a physics bug but you decided to make it a gameplay element :P

I didnt find that launching the chickens at the other chickens made an effective weapon; more often than not, it was just one more chicken to avoid touching rather than a useful distraction for the zombie chickens. I liked the electronic looking ones which come out of a radio shaped hive.

Music was repetative, and no sound effects, so only 1 star for audio.

I found it very hard to navigate the level - at one point I ended up in an area with two giant round yellow chickens, but I died trying to sabotage their nests, and couldnt find that area again. I heard there was a level design issue, did I nearly manage to complete it? I cant get the last 2 hives and I think there were 2 hives in this area.

Great game! Love the music and concept. The sticking to the ceiling mechanic worked well, but I can't help thinking "How does a chicken stick to the ceiling?"

If I were to change anything, it'd be the controls. Most platform games I've seen have used the space bar for jumping, so I kept throwing chickens when I meant to jump (usually resulting in them beating me to death).

I want to like this game, but it was too hard for me. Couldn't seem to jump high enough.

Want to like this game, but I couldn't seem to get by the first part. Didn't seem to jump high enough or something.
