Islands!?! Curses!?!

by chrica - Competition Entry

My first Ludum Dare entry

You play as voodoo witch doctor going from island to island to capture evil spirits. Guide him around the islands to scare away spirits. Study the spirits to learn how they move (or read the tutorial). Trap them by dropping magical Voodoo Wards by right clicking. Chase them into a corner and grab them.

This is actaully my first XNA game and I made the rookie mistake of not having my environment sorted out to get everything properly deployed. Curses!

The game get's the "It works on my machine" Seal. I think the only way to get it to work is to have the XNA Game Studio 4.0 CTP. Let me know if you get it working.

.NET Framework 4.0
XNA Game Studio 4.0 CTP

Dev: Built in XNA Game Studio 4.0 CTP, .NET 4.0 Using VS 2010 Pro RC
Art: Paint.NET

Doesn't run - I've got .net 4. Was hoping to see this is as I did my entry in XNA too. Maybe publishing the project to create an installer would help? I'll look at the source anyway to see if i can get that to build

Installed .NET 4 runtime but it'd crash. I looked for a XNA framework redistributable 4.0 but couldn't find one, 3.1 as highest?

No luck running it here either :( I have .NET 4.0 and the latest XNA redist installed.

Did not work. I do have .NET 4.0 and XNA 3.1 installed. Couldn't find an XNA 4.0 runtime.

I can't play this game. Can you compile it for a different version of .net? Also, please note that XNA game studio allows you to publish games. Publishing your game allows the game studio to package everything your game needs so other people can just run the setup program to play your game. Check out my game, Island Survivor (, for an example of that.
