In the second level, the square gets stuck after moving up, down or left, so I can't complete it. :-(
Firefox 45.0.2 on Debian Linux 8.4.
Awesome game. Loved the humor. I am sad I didn't get to see the squircle and triangle love child.
Great job!
would have loved to see the combination with the triangle :) good job!
Thanks for the positive feedback! It's always nice to have people finish your game :)
@GodsBoss: I made a couple tests (on Ubuntu) but couldn't reproduce your issue, sorry. While the square can (rarely) get stuck, pressing R to restart the level normally fixes it. If the whole game got stuck you may have had a JS error?
Sweet game! At first reminded me of Thomas Was Alone. Same as the above person, wanted the game to go one with the triangle.
Ohh my gosh that was sooo cute! The intro actually made me laugh and this is the first game with a story so far. And its a good one (for a game made in 48 hours)! At first some of the platforming was kinda "eh", but once I got the hang of it and was introduced to the other mechanics, I was impressed. The story was really creative and SUPER cute. Your humor is really good you must be a pretty good writer or something. I had a fun, one of the best submissions so far IMO. And even though you used simple shapes, you polished everything up really well, the animated background, the boxes that floated when you were the square. The puzzles were nice and easy to progress the story but hard enough and had form that I had to think a lil' for a few of em' I would love to see what else you can do!
I like the puzzles. The game finished kind of quick however. I think you could make a lot of fun levels building on this concept.
@Wan: I pressed 'R' plenty of times, the level did reset, but the square got stuck after one move every time.
Will try again at home, I'm now at work and was able to play (and win) the game, a great one for sure.
It ends on such a cliffhanger. :( In all seriousness, a very entertaining game. Now I want more!
Oooooh, definitely felt the Thomas was Alone vibe there! However this one has a different feel to it, and it's a good feel! Very humorous game, great great job!
All Hail Squircle. Kind of the shapes.
I really liked this game. Great narrative and good 'loading/downgrading' of the graphics. The humour was right up my street.
The gameplay was just complex enough to be interesting, while maintaining a simplicity that suited the game well.
I love this game! Awesome mechanics. I was a little disappointed at the end though. I was hoping for a Squarcangle!
Well done! Best game I've seen for now. Fun and simple, and it made me smile. It's a pity it does not have a little bit of sound, but hey, take it with humor :D
I'll begin by saying I came here after you posted to our game. You asked how we did the curved wall. I posted a reply on our game's thread referencing you to the source. Basically, we keep an array of points for each of the walls, then do deltaY * e^(x^2) on all points when a drag happens.
I must say I really enjoyed the story. Subtle irony with respect to conventional love stories and a proper cliffhanger. The mood could be complemented with some sound, but I felt the story broke through and immersed me.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but in the beginning it was a bit frustrating.
I had some issues with the controls. I couldn't figure out how to jump with Circle. It wasn't immediately obvious that you jump more if you're horizontally moving. Also, occasionally, Square wouldn't go to the edge. It would stop almost there leaving me a bit stuck. Somehow the controls felt a bit fidgety in the end.
Neat! The story element reminded me of Thomas was Alone :) Really well done! Extra points for the humor.
Really enjoyed the game. Loved the overall aesthetic, humour, and mood. The square platforming was a lot of fun, it was the first introduction of some amount of puzzle, I especially liked that first level where you had to figure out how to use the square. I would have liked to see more! Really nice polish, great game overall.
About your comment: It's very nice that you remember my comment about get stucked :DD Thank you for your appreciation of physics, it was very difficult. I see that you also handled it very well.
About your game: I completed the 17 levels. I have fallen in love with your game. I like the little story of love, and how they complement each other and have to change shape to solve a cleverly designed puzzles. Very funny when loaded graphics. 5/5
I couldn't figure out how to jump as I needed, so I got stuck. 8<
Really nicely done. Great, funny writing, and some interesting uses of the combined mechanics. Nice job!!
Amazing!! What a great puzzle game! 5* for theme implementation. Congrats for your very cool game!
Fantastic entry! I probably would have considered giving 4 overall for the lack of audio, but that intro more than makes up for it. The graphics were minimal, sure, but that's sort of the only way I'd expect a game about geometric shapes to be. It's a funny, well presented, fun platformer with a great narrative and a really nice pace, and really charming. It's also the first game I'm giving 5 across the board :)
Just fantastic!
Absolutely brilliant narration, great level design idea, cute assets, really good work :)
PS disable the scroll on space key in your javascript, it's a little disturbing on little screen and it prevents me to see the top of the levels when I switch shape
@Togimaro You're right, I just fixed it.
Again thanks for all the nice comments. Actually I didn't expect that most people would take the time to read and enjoy the story... How the writing turned out to be the most praised aspect of the game is a very interesting lesson!
Awesome game! Really liked the gameplay and totally loved the humor. My only complaint would be the absence of audio. Great job overall!
Wow! i must, this is a really good game.. lol i actually finished it and played till the end xD..
Over all i just loved the game form the start to the way it ended nicely done :D. Also the level design and the way you introduced the characters was simply awesome.
The feed backs, the way the BG changes..nice :D Although i wish there was sound but.. i understand :p anyway all the best.. great entry keep up the good work (:
Great game! Reminds me a lot of Thomas was Alone, just in funny. The writing was great, especially the very last thing :D
The graphics are just perfect for this game, the mechanics work flawlessy. Too bad it didn't have sound.
Also +1 for a game with terminal emulation for story telling, I did that last time :D
Wow, really really interesting entry, one of the best I played. GJ there, I miss some audio :__(
I didn't get to see the love baby of a squircle and a triangle :c

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
Nice :D
