Hey all, this was my first time ever participating in a game jam! So much fun! I hope you'll enjoy this game!
One day, a fairy showed up and granted you shapeshifting abilities! Well... play the game to find out what happened next (also, it's in the title, duh). Bonus points if you find the "The Witness" reference!
Controls: Arrow keys to move, Space to turn light on/off.
It's a HTML5 game built using CreateJS. Tested on Chromium 49 and Firefox 44. The title font is "Rubik One".

Funny little game for sure, but I wish I could unplug myself for a bittersweet ending :V
those light circles look pretty nice, with awesome fading edge. Otherwise graphics looks decent, and the ideas in this game is great..
wow! turns out it's not that easy :) sounds are lovely, and waiting in the dim room for the mouse to come is surprisingly pleasant.
The idea behind the game is really unconventional but turns out to be quite fun! I also like the humor behind the game. :)
Laughed out loud at the concept! Definitely an interesting idea and the lighting effects are nice - good work!
Hah. What a mean fairy. The art and sounds are nice, and the story is fun. I really enjoyed playing.
Haha wow, Blinry, I remembered that name vaguely. Found your Github profile, you worked on Gish as well! Awesome to come across a game of yours on LD!
Anyway, nice concept and narration. Had a good laugh and enjoyed the game. Took a while, I was surprised Mr Mouse didn't die on me.
Unexpected and humorous take on the theme.
Sometimes I had to wait too much for more fireflies, but in the end Mr. Mouse had its cheese.
It kept freezing in firefox for me. Could be my fault for too many tabs and other games... Worked fine in Chrome.
Very cool take on the theme. Adorable sound effects too :)
I see the witness reference in the grandfather clock! Very very innovative and great job taking liberty with the theme for humorous effect. Wasn't fully drawn into the gameplay, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
PS Thanks for checking out stellar pendulum!
Very pretty, I liked the sound effects! Th commentary was funny too
This is absolutely incredible, I really enjoyed this! The sound effects and the story were very funny
Being a floor lamp has opened my eyes to all of life's possibilities. Really though; fun concept that works *shock*ingly well (haha)
Be careful what you wish for. I hope in the next installment your light attracts another fairy. Good entry!
It's quirky and original, it feels fresh and unique, I liked it :)
yes, yes little mouse, eat those dead corpses!
Funny idea, gave me a smile.
Very nice! I liked the writing and silliness of the concept, it made me laugh.
Awesome game. Good take on the theme and well done polishing it. Struggling to find fault!
that is a hilarious concept! Awesome little game :) I like the wry text. :) Also... zapping fireflies is kind of satisfying ;p
Nice idea and implementation. Hilarious background story xD And some creepy firefly sounds ;)
Good job.
Well, that was hilarious. Glad you had the hint at the bottom for people who can't figure out the rules, but glad it also had to be actively clicked. It was nice to have that control over having the rules explained to me.
Nice little game. On my second attempt, I've finished it in a minute! It took me about ten minutes on the first try oh randomness XD Anyway, it could use some tiny jazz music or maybe a cute small lullaby to improve the game, the sfx was funny though. I was expecting being able to shapeshift inside the game, but I guess we can say you were inside the theme. And I see you commented on my game about an error, update your JRE (Java) to version 1.8 and try again. I'm waiting for your review over there. You can get more instructions on my itch.io DL page. Thanks!
This was really fun. I played till the end cause I really wanted the mouse to get all the cheese :D Great job ;)
Really cute and funny. Had a little trouble grasping on what to do exactly but hat a lot of fun after i got it.
I actually quite liked it. The way the mouse follows you around after you beat it is cute.
The sounds were kind of harsh, but oh well.
Bonus points for humour an sound effects. Mouse chomping noises were hilarious. :D
Already commented before but forgot to rate ^^' That should be done now :)
What an awesomely inventive concept, with a hilarious execution. Great art, funny writing, and gameplay that's not quite like anything else I've played. Nice work!!
Fun little game, I didn't think of games being based on creating a path like that. I liked the cheese eating sound.

Good job on the art and game play. Defiantly a good entry especially for your first time entering a game jam.
i feel dumb, cause i cant get the mouse close enough to the cheese. just eats the fireflies then goes back in its hole...
It is a well-made game and very original, and the graphics are pretty good as well. However, I don't feel that this fully fits with the theme because shapeshifting feels like it was thrown in last-second.
I'm happy with my first day as a floor lamp. It's good to be of service to mousekind.
Nice job doing that. Really good and original idea and well done.
Congratulations.
Well hot damn were the sounds super loud at the start. That's the biggest critisism I have of this game, and that's just as much my system volume's problem as it is this game's.
To the game itself. The bugs flew just as weirdly and randomly as one would assume. The mouse was really afraid of lights. (Except when the light comes from organic sources? What is he, some kind of a luddite?) Good job on the realism there. The writing was funny, the graphics were alright, and the sounds were hilarious. Good work!
Best of all the html5 i tested for the moment :) Original and funny ! :) The third cheese wasn't really easy but it's ok :) Nice work on IA btw.
The only negative points : sounds are a bit annoying, and a music would have been welcomed.
Very nice game !
Five stars for humor and mood! It is incredibly original and well executed.
I feel so happy now. I am officially a hero to a mouse. But, seriously, great humour xD
One of the most memorable and unique games I've seen in Compo so far, good job overall. Hilarious concept with great theme interpretation. Graphics are eye-candy, audio is simple but funny and fits the game well and the mood is just awesome. I enjoyed it a lot and appreciated the amount of polish you put in it.
The Witness Reference is pendulum? :-P
Funny game! Couldn't get the mouse out though...
This is super funny!!! I had a great time playing it :D It's not easy at all, so I was really challenged to get to the ending (my mouse finally did eat the three cheese pieces!) It's not the superpower I've dreamed of, but hey, now I know that being a floor lamp is not so boring ;) Well done!

Mini Submission FAQ
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.
If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.
CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.
CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
It is certainly original. Felt good when he finally got the cheese. Nice lighting too.
