The Government Job

by WizzardMaker - Compo Entry

Welcome to the CIA, your first job is it to eliminate 6 targets, who all are living near a park, and a restaurant. You have to be careful, there is a sniper, who want's to kill you, to prevent that you have to disguise yourself as an object of your (not all objects) choice, but you should watch out, it would be stupid to disguise yourself as a tree on the parking lot, or as a car on the field. Whenever the Sniper sees you your suspicion goes up (the red bar) if its full you die. You win the game by killing all the 6 targets, you will a scoring based on your talents.

Tell me your score! I've got a score of 544 points, how many did you get?

WASD - Movement
Shift - Sprint
Left Click - kill a human, if in range
Control + Left Click - add the object you're aiming at to your list
Mousewheel/1-0 - Select the object you wan't to disguise yourself as
Alt (hold) - Start to disguise yourself (if the green bar is full you are done)
Escape - Pause Menu
Tab - Toggle(Hide) the Hitlist

There might be some bugs or spelling mistakes (bare with me I'm not a native speaker)
Tell me if the Linux/MacOS build don't work, I can't test them.

You can disguise yourself as:
-Tree (any)
-Stone (Those in the park)

Heya~ This is a nice game, I got 471 on my third try! (I got outed by being too suspiscious before that). The thing is, once you get the hang of it, it is easy to kill all targets without often having to use the disguise. For instance, once you've spotted the target, it's easy to go back to the front of the building where the sniper is and just stay in his dead angle before sprinting to reach your target.
Also, it is kinda sad that I never really had to use the hitlist to identify my targets. I always used the red highlight on them.

All in all, for a game made in 48hrs, it's not bad ;)

That was a fun game. Never ever I wanted to kill people with wizzard hats so badly.

At first I was confused by so much controls, but turns out it's a pretty simple game. However, it got pretty repetitive by the end: hide -> look for your victim -> kill -> repeat.

By the way, where exactly does it tell you your points? Did I get 300ish + 100 - 200ish? Or just the first 300ish?

Pretty nice concept, executed... ok. The hitlist was a nice idea, as Vapeur says, I also just used the red bubble.

I did get killed whilst behind a wall though, like, the sniper has no line of sight on me, but oh well.

All in all, this is pretty nice, and with a few bug fixes and additions it would be really fun <3

@Madball the score is the top number which says: "Points xxx" and @FloatingGhost well there must be a bug, because I thought I added the line of sight, well thanks for your feedback

Oh well, I watched the timelapse and found no evidence of the line of sight thingy, but I found out that the Red Bubble was intended for debugging only, (#if !DEBUG was written and #if DEBUG was intended) I fixed it now

Very interesting! The controls felt a bit overwhelming and binding anything to Alt feels pretty awkward with the WASD controls, but once I got used to it the game was very interesting! The wizard hats were a nice touch. The quick-bar on the left felt a bit useless, because I did just fine just using the waste-paper bin.

Nice game with fun graphics. It took me a while to understand the game mechanics but after a few tries I got the hang of it. One thing to point out is that the shifting takes too long so I had to always be checking the suspicion bar. Overal a very nice game for 48 hours. +1

I enjoyed this, but haven't managed to kill all 6 targets yet (shot while hiding behind a building both times...). I'm not sure what the benefit of certain disguises are over others, other than some of theme being unsuitable for certain areas. It seems that it takes a lot less time to transform into trash, than it does into either a car or a tree though. Is there any reason to not just disguise yourself as trash all the time?

Interesting concept, the controls were kind of weird but they weren't too bad.
Was there any other disguise than trash? I searched for a while and didn't see any?

@Been well the trash gives you a small penalty while disguised, and any other object will get rid of the suspicion, and those with higher "loading" times remove the most of your suspicion.

Awesome game! I'm surprised you managed to make so much with so little time. Keep up the good work!

Took me a while to understand that I had to copy objects in the world, and even after that I couldn't get the hang of the game really.

However I admire how you pulled off all the visual content in the allotted time and put together a nice looking game like this. Kudos!

It isn't the easiest game to get into, but I think after a while I did manage to get the hang of it a bit. Going after people on a hit list is actually a lot of fun, I've learned :D

The music is simple, but good job of having it in there. Many compo games lack music, which is a shame! I liked the colourful graphics a lot, it's got some character to it imho.

Good job all in all!

Took me a while to work out how to actually disguise myself but this was pretty fun and interesting to play and I loved the use of the SniperVision screen as a constant threat.

Neat little game!
I got a little confused in the beginning but eventually I got used to how to play. It seemed well made and the whole idea of having the sniper's vision showing seemed very interesting. The only complaints I have are that Whenever I tried to shoot someone, it didn't work and I had to be really close to get them. Also, the sniper seemed to see me when I was hiding behind a stall and disguised as trash. Other than that, awesome work! :D

Really ambitious stuff, and well executed! I dig the art style; simple but still has plenty of character. One of the best 3D games I've played. Core gameplay is a bit simple but use of theme is great.

Cool game! Well done in such a short time.
I didn't understand what the disguises were for. At one point the sniper had my target under surveillance the whole time so I couldn't get close. I tried disguising myself as a trash can so I could kill him when he walked by but I didn't seem to be able to kill people from disguise hehe

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
