I had to enter the JAM because of lack of time during the weekend, all gfx, sounds (yeah, well...) and programming has been done by me alone.
Unfortunately i didn't find the time to look for some nice/free relaxing music and spend more time on the sound effects. It was supposed to have a relaxed mood to chill a bit while giving the brain some time to detach from work...

Anywho, here is the game:

Your job is to combine the colored blocks to one single line per color (wherever).

You can move your selector with cursor keys (which decides which row can be shifted) UP and DOWN and shift the current row with Cursor LEFT / RIGHT.

Rotate the board with A + S.

R to reset the level if you get stuck.

The puzzles here get hard very fast. I couldn't figure out level 4, not for lack of trying :)

Nice game overall, the only thing i can really think of is have some sort of score that decreases based on how many moves you made and how long you took.

very nice puzzle, and a pretty game! like you said, some ambient tune would be nice. something broke past level 11. I would also put level 4 further as it feels harder than numbers 5-9 -- but perhaps that's my mind's limitation. I definitely had a great time playing this game!

Interesting little puzzle game. I was a little confused when I could move the selection vs shifting blocks. Fun nonetheless.

Very cool, I always love these deceptively simplistic puzzle games. The concept took some getting used to, but the puzzles are really good. Nice work.

Had some troubles at first understanding the game mechanics, but once I got it, it became really fun and I found myself manipulating the puzzles quite instinctively. Great work!

It is nice but quite hard to play since you can get the cursor stuck if you make the wrong move. But it's a really good puzzle !

Took a few tries to 'get' but great once you're in.

Oooh, this is good. I can see this being fleshed out into a full game. I agree there could be some scoring based on number of moves. Perhaps levels of completion for each puzzle... gold/silver/bronze for completion in fewer moves, etc.

Yep, love this. Great little puzzle game, I definitely see this as a mobile app. I'd love a quick undo vs only restart, esp for Level 4, which I found difficult - definitely a glimpse of future difficulty there. Seriously great little puzzle game!

This is a really cool puzzle game concept! Once I got a hang of the core concepts, and started solving the puzzles I was feeling super smart! ... then I got to level 10 :P

Haha, but seriously that one had me stumped for a good 10 minutes. I did end up beating all 11 though.

You can not shift or rotate if select not on any tile, this doesn't not feel good.

Love the idea, simple to learn , hard to master, especially on the trickier later levels. Definitely keep working on this. Reminds me of 2d rubiks cube solves. Very cool!

This is really neat, but the controls are kind of cryptic. If you make them a bit simpler/more explainable you'll have yourself a really solid puzzler

Once I got a hang of the controls, I thought this was pretty nice. Simple mechanic, works well! Was quite easy until I got to level 10. It's also a simple enough idea that you could easily add mechanics on top of it to expand the idea some more. Nice work.

Great puzzle game! Never seen this mechanic, I enjoyed it a lot. I got through 11 levels but I don't know if the 11th is the last one or if there's a bug, it keeps saying click for next level. As a curiosity fact, I'd like to know if there's always a way to solve the puzzle or if I can "mess it up" so much that I'm forced to restart. Sometimes I couldn't figure out how to fix what I did wrong.

@Naca yes, you can reach a point where the puzzle becomes unsolvable, as you can not shift lines with an empty field. (then you have to press 'r' to reset or ESC two times)

I like the mechanic behind this! Similar to mine, kind of. The graphics worked really well, and felt polished although simple. Controls felt a little wonky, using both WASD and arrow keys kind of messed me up. Still, a great game!

Very interesting mechanic, like a 2D Rubic's cube. With a proper escalation of difficulty and a chunk of puzzles, I think you've got yourself something to market.

It's a fun, simple and unique concept for a puzzle game. Got a little bit of time to get the hang of it at first, then the levels felt easy for a while but the challenge picked up nicely again when the second color was added. It could be more fun to have a variation with easy levels but some time pressure or score based on number of moves. Got stuck after level 11, is that just the last one?

This is a cool puzzle game. It took a while to figure out exactly how it works, but once I did, I really got going.
If you make more levels, I'd love to see even more variety in terms of the techniques you need to use in order to solve them.

Oh, wow, and another Rubik's-Cube-like entry! :) Made a very similar game, but not quite the same. Very interesting to play yours! Couldn't stop playing all the levels (11 is the last, right?). Very good concept!

Hooray, a creative take on the theme! Smooth, looks minimalistic yet polished. Gameplay is a bit confusing sometimes; it would help to draw some borders that you cannot go beyond, and indicate that the centre tile is "special", being the pivot. Maybe also add some horizontal lines around the row you're shifting, to make it clear to novice players that the horizontal direction is different from the vertical. But all that is icing on the cake; I think the core is quite solid here, 5/5 for Innovation and Fun :)

This is a really neat little puzzler. Whilst I did get quite far I'm still not entirely sure on the ruleset (for example why can I move a row but then cannot move it back)

Nice little puzzler. Very clean and pro look, and a cool sliding concept once I figured out the rotation feature :)

Impressive to make 11 levels - I know that stuff takes time.

The only issue with the game, I think, is that once you "get it" finding a solution is not that hard. Maybe you could introduce other elements such as non-movable blocks or # of shifts or something if you want to extend it.

But all in all, very nice!

Mini Submission FAQ

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

CAN I ENTER BOTH EVENTS?: You should pick 1 event, whichever you think it’ll do better in. If the idea is strong, and everything plays well enough, you can go Compo. If you’re a perfectionist, and would prefer people to play a more polished game, do the Jam. Historically, more games are entered in the Compo, but with more people and more time, Jam games have the potential to be better (that doesn’t mean they are). Many solo participants do enter the Jam.

If you made 2 games, unfortunately, the website doesn’t support multiple submissions per user. To submit your 2nd game, you will have to make a 2nd account. Only do this if you made 2 games. Alternatively, if one game is better than the other, then consider just entering the better game.

CAN I KEEP WORKING UNTIL THE DEADLINE?: Yes! Immediately after the 48 or 72 hours, we do something called Submission Hour. As the name suggests, it’s an extra hour for you to package, upload, and submit your games. If there were catastrophic issues trying submitting your game, or you misunderstood how submissions work, that’s okay. It happens. We’re flexible. If you need advice, check with the folks on IRC. If you need an admin, get in touch.

CAN I KEEP WORKING ON MY GAME?: Oh definitely! You should! But for the sake of judging, keep the Compo or Jam version around. You can include a link to the Post-Compo/Post-Jam version of your game on your games page, but sure your main links are the original version.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate at least 20 games to improve your visibility (Coolness).

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crashes, win condition, or tiny bugs after the deadline. In a sense, this is like “porting” to support more players. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just fixing mistakes you should have caught had you been better rested.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
