Nothing But Stars - wbobeirne - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Hey Ludum Dare folks,

First some notes: You are required to have .Net and XNA 4 installed to run this. If you don't have those, download the game + resources file. Secondly, the source won't compile without the font "Animated Avatar" installed on your computer. Either switch it to Arial, or go get that.

Thanks for checking out my game, Nothing but Stars. I had a lot of fun making the game, but unfortunately, ended up missing out on the last 12 hours of work time. I full well expected to spend those adding obstacles like meteorites, black holes etc. to spicen up the gameplay. Still, I'm left with an almost decent game with some cool elements and mechanics to it.

All graphics, audio, and code was made by me with the help of the following tools:

Sfxr
Audacity

Except for the font used, which was originally on DaFont, but has been pulled since I downloaded it. It's called Animated Avatar though.

It's a shame that the game is so short/unfinished, because this was actually quite a nice concept and execution. I had to restrict my actual score due to the amount of gameplay, but otherwise I was impressed.

The game is not finished, but the movement and control responses were quite neat! I liked the music also!

Hope you can finish more of your game next LD, and thanks for rating a bunch of games! :-)

nice artwork, not sure the music fits entirely but it's still good, reminds me a bit of Descent I think. The movement is nice and I like how the stars flicker a bit.

I could not play this game because it is windows only, and has limiting factors after that. It looks very good, a game play video would have been awesome to include to people could get a better picture of the game.

The controls, graphics, and music/sounds give a nice space feel. If was fun flying around, so it's a shame the game was so short.

I can't get it to run. I double-click the exe and nothign happens. But I can run other XNA/.NET entries fine :( Any ideas?

whilefun: A lot of other games using XNA and .Net 3.5, mine uses 4.0. Are you sure you're fully updated?
