December 16th-19th 2011 :: Theme: Alone
Hoooooorah!... Didn't think I'd get a chance to submit an LD22, but knuckled down Saturday night and managed this bleak piece of code. Now I must sleep as it is Sunday morning.
HOW TO PLAY:
Your goal is to mouse-over positive words; mouse-over negative words and the screen becomes more and more red, and your gun arm shakes more and more, and the gun hammer gets pulled.
There are two endings - you either survive or you don't.
There is also a 'score' at the bottom left.
Note:
Because this is quite a simple and short game, I have made it quite challenging in terms of game difficulty - this is also to increase the tension in-game, which I feel is a big part of the experience.

The ending gave me a bit of a shock, though I suppose that was probably intended. Or maybe I just had the volume up too loud.
It's not exactly a "game", but it's still a great use of the theme.
Yeah, it is a game... maybe I need to explain...

Wha- but... Wow. I guess you really captured the horror of suicide. The game ended and I thought, "that's it?" I guess that's what happens when someone commits suicide. (I did play again and win, just so you know)
Very powerful game... I agree that you have really managed to capture the horror of suicide. It's a constant battle, and you only get to lose once (in real life, that is). Winning this game for me was almost as depressing as losing... :) Great job on the art and music. They really help to create the right mood.
The mood is awesome! Also, loved the tremble of the guy; I totally felt the tension!
Sorry, I didn't notice that you were able to do those things the first time. I played the game again, got the good ending and adjusted the ratings I gave. Thanks for explaining the parts I missed, and sorry for taking so long to reply.
I loved this (maybe that sounds bad). Took me five or six tries until I was able to live. Sometimes it just doesn't seem like enough positive words spawn to be able to survive. I think I'm mostly ok with that, but it does seem a bit too random (considering when I finally survived it seemed pretty easy).
Little annoying to have to refresh to replay, but that's a tiny niggle, and having a replay button would probably ruin the mood.
Well done, good job with the theme.

Nice job, thoroughly depressing. Good job with the theme.
