I think the game mechanic of collecting speed pellets works but the controls feel a bit sluggish and slow. That's a hell of a multiplier, btw.

dstrysnd says ...

Yeah, definitely needs a speedup. Nice music.

jhauberg says ...

Cool idea, but the boat needs to feel much faster, and the tsunami of doom needs to be much more threatening :D I had to miss almost every single speedup to ever get hit by it.

The waves and the buoyancy looked pretty good though.

noonat says ...

Interesting idea, but it was way too easy for me.

Hamumu says ...

Wayyyyy too slow feeling! I noticed in the readme that the items are based on the music, which is what I was going to comment - this is Rockbandish, you should really be making the music by collecting the dots. Hearing notes come from getting them would've been more satisfying than blurps that ended up being kind of contrary to the music, and out of time.

Endurion says ...

Playable but a bit slow. I made both stages on the first try. I had some weird color error on the ocean floor (blueish quads).
Love the score multiplier!

0rel says ...

needs more speed, indeed. otherwise nice!
...and what Hamumu said about the music.

muku says ...

Kudos for trying something in 3D, but... it felt extremely easy to just collect all the things? No challenge at all? Strange. Should be much faster, with longer tracks. The bonus multiplier was a definite WTF moment.

agj says ...

Odd way of surfing. :)

Obviously needs more content/stuff, and perhaps a little more action. I kept thinking that it would be a lot more fun if the notes played when the sub hit them, to make it feel like you're playing the melody. I guess you'd have to change the way the movement speed works to get decent rhythm though, and perhaps how the music is played (although if you move at a constant rate you could just sync up the track to match the sub position).
Initial presentation/menu feels very doomy, which is good.

It’s almost playable

Well well. I was away for a few hours during the day, returned to developing my entry a few hours ago. Did some composing, since tunes are also the level content. It just started to take too much time, so there won’t be much levels.

Along the way the concept has changed again a few times (leading a bit of re-coding due to the iterations)… but for the better, I guess. The game isn’t very special, but at least I should have something to submit by the deadline…

Sleeping is essential

Well, at least I’m saying that to myself when I notice what’s the time after I woke up, went to shower and ate breakfast. Anyway, here’s a screenshot of the latest progress from last night before I went to sleep… too much stuff is still missing, even lots of the essentials. I feel I’m behind the schedule, although I don’t even have one except for the deadline. How typical.

Didn’t take a pic of meal a few hours ago.. but here’s one from evening meal:

Morning coffee leftovers (with fresh milk) heated in microwave.. again a Karelian pie, this time with some tasty meat aspic on top. The tomatoes are there just to fool you again.

Framework working and some initial test code is also in place (the object placement there, rest is just fooling around!). And no, there’s not even the wall yet.

Breakfast at 1 PM

Here’s my LD48#14 starter breakfast…

Some delicious coffee (french roast) and two Karelian pies (Finnish specialty) with salty raw spiced salmon (also Finnish specialty). With some biscuits from the bag on the right which are baked with oil and don’t contain any trans fats. I didn’t eat any of the small tomatoes, at least for now. I just put them in the pic to fool you.
