My best score so far is 3662. It's surprisingly fun. I predict it would be incredibly addictive with an online highscore table. I loved the little ghost guy when you crash into the spikes.

I liked the twist on the platformer. You actually have to avoid platforms to survive.

Oh that was just a ton of fun. There are a lot of really great nifty gameplay elements going on.. very cool! It is fairly balanced already and has a nice assortment of powerups and things to dodge. It is a little buggy currently but nothing that couldn't be fixed up post-compo. I enjoyed the music and the graphics are quite humorous. The controls play well and the game is simply a lot of fun. I think with some better graphics, online highscores for players and a tiny more polishing and bug fixing you'd have a great little game here to let people enjoyably waste their time. :)

Nice little game, got 2313 on my second try.

The first time I started this game, I hit a bug that caused the game to detect space as always being pressed, so it skipped past the info and death screens, and the block guy always moved upwards and died instantly, in a never-ending death loop. Quit and tried running the game again though, and it worked fine then, and has since. Didn't do anything different that I know of the first time.

Anyway, when it worked, this was fun. Felt a little bit odd to escape from the wall of firey doom *downwards* .. I guess the sun is going nova or something, but even if the block guy ever manages to reach the bottom of this seemingly bottomless spiky elevator pit he's doomed to a firey death anyway. Those birds seem remarkably unaffected by the situation, too. Not that there's any obligation for everything to make sense all the time =)

Was a bit annoying that bonus points and birds sometimes spawned in unreachable places (inside spikes, halfway inside the fire).

Not sure what my best score is exactly, but it was somewhere around 3600. I was just pressing space to go up at the time, so the death screen was skipped.. Having to press a different key to dismiss the death screen would avoid this problem (eg enter?).

Saturated red text on a blue background was *not* a good decision. =)

I like the block guy btw. He looks so happy! No worries about the impending firey death.

Hah, that was good simple fun for a while. Nice. Don't really have much to add, except that the "flapping wings" noise seemed very out of place. I guess the music would have become annoying real quick, but it was kind of fun for the couple of minutes I played it.

Fun! Good audio, liked the powerups, loved the animations on the main characters. x_x

This is the first time I have tried doing anything of this sort and I’ve had a lot of fun with it. I hope you enjoy my game!

In IYDRAFTFTYWDSTWYSRFTF (If You Dont Run Away From the Fire Then You Will Die So Thats Why You Should Run From the Fire) you play as a little blockdude who flies around and tries not to die. The fire from the top of the screen constantly is growing until eventually it takes over the entire screen. You may stall your death with items, but it is only a matter of time until you die. Simply fly around and have fun!

Fun Facts

-The game was auctaully going to be a platformer. When I was making it, I accidently made it so that you could hold down the jump button and go into the air forever. I realized that this was auctaully quite fun, so I drew some wings on my guys and put him in the air and let him fly.

-The creator of this game finished nearly the entire game in the first day of the competition, and spent the next day fixing everything, writing the music, and such.
-The creator of this game listened to the following albums while programming:
1. The White Album — The Beatles
2. Sgt. Peppers — The Beatles
3. Rubber Soul — The Beatles
4. Aqualung — Jethro Tull
5. Thick as a Brick — Jethro Tull
6. Abbey Road — The Beatles.
-The following foods were eaten while programming this game:
1. A turkey sandwhich
2. A bowl of cereal
3. A 3 egg omlette
4. Some pizza
5. Another sandwhich

The following tools were used in this project:
-Macromedia Flash Professional 8

I hope you enjoy playing my game! I had a lot of fun making it!

Sunday Brunch

I just made myself a huge omlette which my sister and I shared today for brunch. Here’s a pic:

It’s a 3 egg omlette with bacon and spanich and bell pepper, tomato, and basil, along with 2 pieces of toast and a scone. As you can already probably tell, it was delicious. I’m pretty happy now. Back to work now…

Day One Complete

Well, I’ve almost ended my first day of near straight up programming, and am suprised by my results. I’ve auctaully almost gotten a complete game with semi-tolerable graphics and gameplay. I still got plenty more to do, namely fixing a few bugs and putting in the sound, but I am proud of what I’ve made so far. It isn’t nearly as good as some of the other games I’ve read you all are making, but I’m happy what I’ve made so far and look forward to playing everyone else’s creations!

Hey Guys!

Hey, this will be my first LD entry. It seems like a lot of fun, and I have seen some great attempts at it. I hope to do something as cool as what I’ve seen some of you guys do!

I plan writing in Flash/ActionScript 2.0, and I’m going to use MSPaint to do my sprite drawings and Fireworks for any other drawings I may have.

I’m really excited about this. I look forward to what kind of theme it ends up with. Good luck to everyone!
