I can't decide if your audio is so bad it's good or not. I think it might be.

MrPhil says ...

It runs at zillion miles an hour for me. My longest game was 5000 milliseconds with a high score of 1. No sound for me either.

increpare says ...

I can only see cars on a white background (no title screen, no sound, no sprite). alas (my experience lends itself to giving you a towlr mark I think ;) )

Hamumu says ...

N/A for art, you have to make all artwork within the 48 hours, and I'm not trusting that you got Chuck Norris to pose for you during that time. The audio also has to be clipped from SOMETHING, I'm not sure what, judging by the bits of music and whatnot in the background. So N/A there too, and I'd also like to point out that it's actually illegal to use these things without permission, nevermind the contest!

As for the gameplay, it seems to be really badly broken... the cars would all vanish sometimes, and the timing on kicks seemed random, I don't know. Doesn't work!

And one last huge complaint about the rules - you CANNOT change your entry after the 48 hours! If you want to submit a fixed version, make it separate. You have to leave the original one up, or obviously it's not a 48 hour entry.

demonpants says ...

It basically froze my computer. Nothing went anywhere, it was all stuck in place. n/a for overall, fun, sound, and graphics.

erik says ...

Really weird collision detection was a problem for me.

sol_hsa says ...

Not really happy about the use of copyrighted material..

ondrew says ...

Doesn't really work on none of the computers I tried. Only some sprites appear, sound doesn't play.

caturday says ...

It's funny, because you're using Chuck Norris. I didn't care so much but some folks down below are making pretty valid complaints. Once you subtract Chuck, game was too rough around the edges. Collisions and stuff were inconsistent with artwork - pretty borken, for 48 game that may have taken too liberal a stance on the artwork.

threeeffhex says ...

Hey, afraid to say anything bad about a game with chuck in it... Had some issues with collision, when trying to kick a car while landing from the jump - didn't really work as a game from that perspective, but was a humorous concept :)

HybridMind says ...

Chuck Norris doesn't need collision detection, he just stands still while cars pass right through him!

I’d like to thank everyone for helping out with my first experience in LD, especially on the IRC. I was dumbfounded as to what to do with the theme of Roads, but thanks to just randomly typing on the IRC, I got my idea (Very poor, but an idea nonetheless). I know my entry failed, and broke a few rules (audio, pictures of chuck norris 😉 ), but I had fun with it, which is the most important part. I’m eager to see what we have next time around. Hopefully I’ll have a better idea of what to expect of everyone else, and what to do. See you all when LD 14 comes about!

I’ve updated the Zip file, and I believe the problems with speed should be fixed. I never did get around to actual sound effects by the way. Only sound is in “Pure Pwnage” mode.

Road To Pain Video
Weird, I posted this before and it’s gone. Well, again, here’s the video after 24 hours. Play as Chuck Norris and knock the bad guys off the road, and don’t hurt the Texas Ranger trucks. The trucks aren’t in this video, but have been implemented since! Project is being done in C++ With Opengl.

Yes, Road to Pain. It involves Chuck Norris. You can not go wrong with Chuck Norris, thus I shall win. 😉
